First prenatal visit after miscarriage?

Did your OB's office have a different policy for the first prenatal visit after a miscarriage?

I am 5 weeks today (had miscarriage earlier this year) and when I called the OB's office, they want me to come in for 4 separate visits - 2 consecutive blood tests, a sonogram and an exam with the doctor after both tests and sonograms confirm the pregnancy.

I don't know if this is normal but I feel like I have to jump through hoops just to see the OB.

That's not what I did...I had a miscarriage in august...got pregnant in February and I asked to come in for an early sono because of the prior loss...my ob saw me at 5 weeks for a sono and bloodwork then again at 7 weeks and 9 weeks all with sono's...it was a good thing they saw me early because I had low progesterone....personally I think it's a bit much much what they want u to do....most doctors want to see you right away after you have a miscarriage.

I saw an re when I got pregnant. They had me come in for 2 blood tests and then a sono at 6 weeks. The bloodwork is to confirm pregnancy and make sure your numbers doubling and to check your progesterone. The sono was the make sure the baby was growing and there was a heartbeat. It is good to go early if you have history of miscarriage bc if your progesterone is low they will put you on progesterone.
