Could this be ADHD or something else or nothign at all?
My ds who turned 4 on 4/7 and from 17 months to this past August he recieved speech ot and special instructor. He finally started talking about 3 and hasnt stopped. He is soo ridiculously smart for his age. He is not reading or anything but he loves books( in fact he can memorize a book after a few times of me reading it to him) and he has a great vocabularly and does math problems. There is no signs that he ever recieved services except for when he says a few words. HE is completey fine in all the areas he once received therapy for.
My problem is he can get very hyper especially when he has sugar. We went to a party yesterday and he was great. he was playing but nothing out of control. He had a piece of cake and went nuts. He was running around like a nut and he was being very silly. He is fast to begin with but when he has sugar its like he is flying. He was running around in circles hitting people with balloons( I stopped him obvioulsy). He gets like this with any sugar or carbs.
At home he can concentrate on things, he will watch a show a movie( sit at the movies or a show) he loves to help to with cooking and doing laundry and other chores. He willsit for a story and loves to be read to. He will sit and snuggle for long periods of time as well.
In school I had problems when he started nursery in the fall.He cried for about a month straight and was a little aggressive with other kids. It was also his first time in a school like setting,he never went to day care. He calmed down and became very social but he is almost OVERLY social( if theer is such a thing). For example the teacher has told me when he wants to play with something, say a,puzzle, he will go around and ask every single kid to play and when one says no he moves on to the next. To me its normal for a kid to keep pushing until he find someone who wants to play what he wants to play. According to the teacher she thought it was an issue. I am ateacher too and disagree wihther but figuredI would put it out there for other opinions.
I dont really know what I am looking for, but any feedback would be great. TIA

Being that it's not a constant and only with sugar, I would day no.
DS is ADHD with hyperactivity and impulsiveness. It's constant. All day long until 5 min before he falls asleep. He just can't sit still.

Diet will def help him and chiropratic care. Sounds like a food allergen to me (sugar, carbs etc). His body is reacting to the sugar, as if he was inflammed. The feingold diet has been successful are helping hyperactivity, ADHD etc. Go gluten/wheat free and see what happens. For what you're describing you will def see a difference if you cut gluten and possible casein. Look into it. You can see a nutrionist and/or someone who especialist in this area to guide you etc. But it def be done on your own. The transistion may be hard, but the results will be amazing!!! Also, finding a great chiroprator will help him as well. I know 2 that I would recommend: Dr. Sherr from Northport Wellness and Dr. Carrino in West Islip. We see Carrino. Nortport Wellness Center can also help you with the diet (Dr. Sherr, Dr. Palesvksy) HTH.
