Should also mention we are on a tight budget so cost IS a factor. TIA!

There's an aisle of arts and crafts kits in both Toys R Us and Target. Those are my go-to gifts for girls that age. Also, my first graders this year LOVED Monster High. They have dolls and accessories. Not sure if your niece is into them but they were popular with the 6-year-olds I was around! Also the store Justice is popular for this age not sure of the pricing there but you could get her an outfit.

Monster High is def popular, also fancy journals and pens, gift cards or stuff from Claires or Justice (pocketbooks, lip glosses, hair clips, cute tops ect..)
