Are you increasing your caloric intake? (Im assuming you might have too with the longer runs)
In order to build muscle you need to at the very least be at the top level of your maintenance calories---realistically in a slight surplus.
How long have you been doing this training? More likely than not, your muscles are filling with water (and if carbohydrates are higher, glycogen). It takes a long time of real solid nutrition and from my experience heavy weight trainingt o truly build muscle.
I definitely wouldn't sweat the weight gain...probably just water retention and will go away soon!

Re: Gaining weight while training for a marathon???
I gained a few pounds when I was training for my first half but I lost a lot of weight when I was training for my second. I guess it depends on what your food intake is. Even though you are working off a lot of calories, if you are taking in a lot more it won't balance out.
I was only really running long, slow distances training for my first so I think thats why I gained a few. I did a lot of speed and hill training for my second half marathon though and was better at doing other cross training workouts and I lost weight.

I didn't gain, but didn't lose either. Usually because when I'm training I eat more (partly because I'm hungry/partly because I feel it's a reward for the miles)

Also, are you sore at all? If so, your muscles could just be inflamed from the workout which would cause water retention too!
