If you've been to Paris
DH and I are planning our anniversary trip to Paris in November. I've been researching hotels (DH is a bit of a hotel snob, so it needs to be a modern hotel with A/C and at least a queen size bed, which I know is hard to come by in Europe)
What area(s) would you recommend we look for a hotel in? Near the Champs Elyse, Eiffel Tower? Or are those too touristy so they hotels are more $$ ???

We went to Paris in May. We stayed at the Hyatt by the Eiffel Tower. The hotel was great, but the Eiffel Tower isn't really near anything so it was a little far to walk around to the sites. We would either take a cab or the Metro back to the hotel at night.
We spent most evenings on the Champs Elysees so I would look into staying in that area. There are tons of restaurants and shopping and the metro runs from the Arc D'Triomphe, and you can get to just about anywhere in Paris from that train stop.

Just realized you mentioned A/C.
Depending on the time of year you go, be aware that even the large hotels like the Hyatt, don't turn their A/C on until the summer. The windows in the rooms open. Luckly it wasn't too hot when we went.

Actually, we were supposed to go in November last year for our HM and had to change our plans because of the riots (I didn't want to spend my HM holed up in my hotel room scared!) The hotel our Travel Agent booked for us did have AC, but the prices now are a little too high for what we are looking to spend (no more than 200 euro's/night)

I usually stay near the Opera House. It is centrally located and not as pricey as other areas. But I can't recommend any of the hotels I have stayed in - I've always gone for business and my (ex) boss is very cheap so I have yet to stay in a nice hotel. Rooms are very small. Hopefully I will go this October and stay somewhere nice!

Make sure that its somewhere central because getting home after around 10 is MURDER in Paris...My company took us all to Paris to see Madonna a few years ago and we stayed out late thinking we could get taxis back to the hotel...WRONG. We walked around 4 miles in HEELS at 3 in the morning.

We stayed at the Four Seasons (George V) by Champ Elysees. I guess it was a good area. I think it is really importamt to be central to things because Paris is all about WALKING!!! At one points, I wanted to die from the pain and fatigue. Bring comfy shoes!

George V is an amazing hotel in a great location! I highly recommend it!

George V is an amazing hotel in a great location! I highly recommend it!
We'll admire from the outside... a little out of our price range

We went last February and stayed at the Hotel de Fleurie. I forgot what district it's in but it was a short walk to the subway. Here are some reviews on it from tripadviosr.com

We stayed at Hotel Lancaster which is right off of Champs Elysees, a block from George V.
The hotel was FENOMINAL. The room was so nice and the hotel staff was amazing. Here is a link
