Clomid or more than that .....
I got pregnant with twins with the help of a fertility doctors. Both DH and I had problems.
To answer the question yes, you could get pregnant with multiples on clomid or any other follicle stimulating drug. However fertility drugs also increase you risk of certain cancers.
With that said, I spent 2 years TTC and had one chemical pregnancy before I got blessed with my twins. My husband and I both wanted the 2 for 1 deal. My sister has twins so I *thought* I knew what I was in for. Of course I wouldn't trade my girls for anything in the world, but even I was seriously mistaken by how hard it is to carry and raise twins. I thought watching my sister raise hers I knew how hard it would be. She lives very close to me and I saw them several times a week.
As for the pregnancy, you run so many more risks. They may sound like something you want to take a risk on until the reality sets in and it happens to you. I was put on bed rest at 20 weeks. My cervix started to shorten. I also developed a thyroid problem, gestational diabetes, and delivered by C section due to preeclampsia as my organs were starting to shut down. Each additional multiple (twin, triplet, quads etc.) increases the strain on your body and the risk of preterm labor. Which often leads to physical and mental problems for your babies. If you have a heart problem your doctor might make you deliver early to save you. Putting your children at a very unfair disadvantage in life, if they even survive. If you already ovulate and you take clomid you have no idea how many follicles you will make. It could be more than two and those could split into triplets or quads. Then you are really running some serious risks, or having to decide if you want to terminate or do selective reduction. What I am saying is if you are already physically not fit to carry you might go down hill fast. They will want to save your life before your fetuses regardless of what gestational age they are. Choosing to get pregnant with multiples when you have a bad heart is putting your desires over their health. You are making the choice for your children to possible not reach their full potential in this world.
If you want a big family I would say start with just trying to be pregnant and see how it goes. If you have a good pregnancy you could have more. If you want to adopt it is much easier to adopt more than one child at a time (as in adopting siblings). It is much harder for them to place multiples than to place single babies.
I started having heart problems towards the end of my pregnancy. Pregnancy increases the problems you already have and can actually cause problems to surface that you didn't even know about due to the strain. You are now asking you heart to pump for three or more. It puts a huge strain on your heart and every other part of you.
My girls are 15 months old now. I hardly leave the house. It's exhausting. I can't take them to the park or any place else because they run off in different directions.
I think physically you would be better off having several pregnancies rather than having multiple pregnancies.
