Is it worth the trip to the OBGYN?

I usually go and have a sono and exam every two weeks. I'm suppose to go Monday and that will be a three week mark since last time a went. I feel like it's been soooooo long! I have the same lower back pain when I'm on my feet too long that I've had throughout this whole pregnancy but just feel like I need to go for a piece of mind before the weekend. Well, they will take me in but there is no sono availability tomorrow so I guess the docotor will just be checking my cervic vaginally the old fashioned way! Is this accurate? I just don't want to drive all the way there (45 minutes away), drag my toddler and wait forever in the waiting rooom if it's not worth it. Like I said I have a sono Monday but if they can accurately check me without one I may just go tomorrow as well. WWYD????

Oh I'm 26 weeks

Re: Is it worth the trip to the OBGYN?

I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow and i was just checked yesterday at my regular every 2 week OB appt and i feel like an internal exam by the doctor is enough...they can tell if is shortening or opening so I would probably go just for peace of mind. The doctor told me after 22 weeks I only needed to go for sono every 4 weeks, so I'm assuming internal exam by the doctor is sufficient. Good luck!!

Thank you! My friend just started a her own business and she is soooo talanted=)

I am feeling so so. Some days are better then others. I feel so limited though. Everything wears me down. Like today a did a few errands with my son and went food shopping and I feel like I really over did it. I get some pressure and lower back pain. December 15 seems like sooooooo far away but If everything goes as planned my c-section is on the 5th.

I can't do anything anymore..no more food shopping or stairs, i get braxton hicks contractions as soon as I do anything! I asked the doctor and she said I can't do those things because I shouldn't be doing those things, so I'm just trying to take it easy. If everything goes as planned for me my c-section will be 11/30/12, but I'm sorta thinking I want to try a vaginal birth...but I'm scared of the double whammy! lol

Re: Is it worth the trip to the OBGYN?

yes it is worth it and it is accurate!

I went in for a check up with my high risk dr at 23 weeks and everything looked perfectly fine. One week later (24 weeks), I went to my regular ob and through an old-fashioned internal they determined I was 1 cm dilated and my cervix was EXTREMELY short. They sent me to the hospital immediately. Things can change really quickly so if you haven't gone in awhile I suggest you go. I am sure everything is fine, but why not just get checked out in case?! They can definitely tell if there are any issues just with an internal. Good luck!!

Oh man...I probably should slow down then! I'm also chasing around a 2.5 year old toddler that is as wild as can be. I think I may start doing pea pod through stop and shop to lessen my load.

Oh and if I didn't have a c-section with my son I would definitley try for a natural birth. I have to admit though, after 30+ hours of hard labor and then a c-sectoin I'm happy to just go for the C this time!! Good luck!!!

Yes its either pea pod or I send the hubby out with a list! I don't know HOW you manage with your son! i guess you just do what you have to do, but thats definitely gotta be hard! I'm exhausted and I just sit at work all day lol

Good luck with the c-section! Depending on the babies positions I might just end up having one too, where are u delivering? I'll be at NSUH Manhasset.

I honestly don't know how I do it with him either. I can't even lift him to put him in the cart so he ends up wheeling it with me and running away and takes double the timeChat Icon I think I'm done trying lol

I am delivering at stony brook..had a great exoerience with them the first time around. Can you recommend you obgyn that delivers at North Shore bc my friends is newly pregnant and needs to find one. Thanks!

Re: Is it worth the trip to the OBGYN?

I use Victor Klein's group (northern blvd in Manhasset). I think he's really good and I also see Nimaroff and Alkasab. I know a lot of ppl that have used this group and been happy with them, including my sister. I'm not really familiar with the other doctors in the practice but that's because I try to make all my appts with the 3 I listed above. Congrats to your friend!
Stonybrook would have been a much more convenient location for me to deliver at (I live in Smithtown!) but Klein is not associated with Stonybrook so NSUH it is for me!

Oh boy...pea pod will be much easier for you! They bring the groceries in the house for you too, so much easier than going to the supermarket!
