Need Recommendation for Child Psychologist

Hi,
I'm a long time lurker here but would really appreciate any recommendations you have for a child psychologist (preferably south shore - Wantagh/Seaford/Massapequa area). We think our son has oppositional defiance disorder and while we are waiting for the school evaluations to be complete I am looking to get an independent evaluation too. We met with one psychologist but since she's not an in-network doctor we can't afford to pay out of pocket on a weekly basis so we need to look for another psychologist.

We intially took our son to Dr. Steven Baron.

He is located in the Big Chief Indian building in Massapequa.

He was the one who recommended we proceed with the school-based eval.

I also know he is affiliated with some of the service providers here on Long Island who do evaluations through the school district.

We used Up Wee Grow who services Nassau and Suffolk County. Dr. Andrew Vaughan came highly recommended from several people and we were extremely pleased with him. I am not sure what his insurance policies are since we used him through Early Intervention. He did the evaulation in our home.

Need Recommendation for Child Psychologist

Just wanted to say thanks for your replies. We had tried reaching out to Dr. Baron but he didn't have any availability at the time. After numerous discussions with our pediatrician, developmental pediatrician and a child psychologist, we decided to take him to the NYU Child Study Center for a private evaluation.

Best of luck. Anyone I know who has used NYU for anything has always been very pleased.

I am sure they will also be able to assist with treatment recs down the road as well, if needed.
