When you get bloodwork done at a dr.'s office...
Do you expect to be called with the results if there is a problem?
I basically got the same bloodwork done at two doctors. They are completely unrelated doctors. One of them informed me of the problem the very next day. The other one never bothered to contact me and it's been a week....... Obviously it doesn't matter because I know the results but I was told someone would call me in 2-3 days and I got nothing and I KNOW it came back abnormal.
ETA: Do you generally call to follow up on bloodwork? I usually just figure no news is good news..... but now I feel like this dr.'s office needs to be stayed on top of....

Re: When you get bloodwork done at a dr.'s office...
Hi there, my primary dr always calls regardless of the results. I never had to call.
Any of my other doctors only call if there is a problem and if something is out of range.

For the most part yes. One dr told me "no news is good news" so i knew not to expect a call. Every other dr has called or had me schedule an appt to discuss.

I would expect to be called unless it wasn't an urgent matter and I had a follow up appt scheduled.

Re: When you get bloodwork done at a dr.'s office...
I always call within 3 days of blood work for results. I keep copies of every test I get because of numerous health issues. I like to KNOW whats going on.
I know a lot of Drs. have the "No news is good news" theory, but people make mistakes. Results get lost, fall out of charts, human error... what if something big is missed? ALWAYS be on top of your own health.

I do expect a call if there is something elevated. However, I always request a copy of my bloodwork within a few days anyway. Also, my dr/hospital system uploads all your appointments, blood work, diagnostic exams, etc to a 'portal' online where you log on and see everything. I love it.
