We had our babies!
Hi Everyone!!
Been MIA for a little while because we had our baby girls!! If you remember my story, I was hospitalized at 33 weeks due to PTL. I bought myself another 2 weeks and delivered exactly at 35 weeks. I was discharged last night. Sadly my girls are still in the NICU. Baby A was 4 lb 2 oz and Baby B was 5 lb 2 oz. Baby A is doing great and probably coming home tomorrow or Monday. Baby B is being watched because she's still learning the sucking reflex. She was using a CPAP for breathing assistance but it only lasted a day or so... She will probably come home at the end of next week. Dr's want to be sure that she doesnt have another breathing episode for a straight week.
LIJ is/was absolutely amazing. They encouraged everything I wanted to do with the girls. Nursing, skin to skin contact, feedings, etc. They had LC's on staff and were so incredibly supportive. I've been pumping and have been able to build enough of a supply to exclusively feed with BM. YAY!!!! Both girls latched nicely but Im still learning that technique-it's not easy.
I KNOW they are in amazing hands in that NICU-I met people coming from different states because the reputation of the NICU there is so highly rated.
Last night was so incredibly difficult to leave them but again, I know they are in the right hands.
I wish I could have given them more time during the pregnancy so they could have developed more, and had less time in NICU but it came to a point where they were safer out of my belly than in.

Congrats!!! That's great that one can come home with you and the other won't be far behind!! Do they have names yet? I'm pretty sure I won't have mine named for a few days. Lol

omg congrats!!!!!!!
i know exactly how it feels to feel guilty over delivering early - PLEASE don't beat yourself up!! you did EVERYTHING you could, you did everything right. it was beyond your control. believe me i still have to remind myself this often!!!
if you need anything at all i live 5 minutes from LIJ PLEASE do not hesitate to FM. even if you just need someone to relate! congrats on your babies mama!!!

I agree with Flowerwife....please try not to blame yourself. I definitely understand how you are feeling because I still feel that way too, but just try to know that you did everything in your power. If you have any questions about the NICU or just want to talk to someone who has been through it don't hesitate to FM me!!
Your girls are in my thoughts and I hope they have a short NICU stay!!

Congratulations!!!!! Many of us have been in your shoes and we all know it is not easy leaving your babies.
One of my girls spent a few weeks of their NICU journey at LIJ. They do have a wonderful facility and the staff is amazing.
If you have any questions, want to vent, etc. we are all here for you. The nicu journey can be difficult, but it sounds like your girls will be home soon.

Congrats to you!!! Great weights for 35 weeks! I had to leave one baby in the NICU when I came home too. It was hard but she will be home before you know it.

CONGRATULATIONS on your babies!!! LIJ NICU is great, my DS was there for a couple weeks after he was born. Helped that my cousin is a nurse in the NICU, so I know they are extra special!

Those are great weights for the babies and great job getting to 35 weeks.
They are in great hands in the NICU - they will be monitored and cared for 24/7.
My girls spent 2 weeks in the NICU and came home on a bit of a schedule, which is pretty great!
Thinking about you!!! Great some rest and hope those girls come home soon
