Baby A is head down! csection v vaginal--UPDATE

Even though I'm only almost 29 weeks, I honestly never thought Baby A would sit still enough for him to be head down. (but the sono tech said there's still time for him to move back to breech.)

Mentally, I just assumed I'd have a csection based on his crazy moving throughout this pregnancy. Doctor said I could just choose a csection and not even try for a V birth.

I have fibromyalgia and the csection recovery's going to be hell, I know it. But I'm deathly afraid of trying for a vaginal birth and ending up with a vbirth for baby A and a csection for baby B!

Not sure if I should push the vbirth- does that means I need to take a Lamaze class? I asked the doc what's healthiest for the babies and he said csection. Maybe I should just do that- plus Gina told me stories about V births that have scared the ish out of me Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
any thoughts?

UPDATE:
One is breech and one's transverse so my c sections scheduled!!

Tough Call..

A C-section is surgery, and does put you at risk. It is great for the babies in some regards, but others not so much. They do not naturally get the fluids squeezed out that they would with V-birth. The probelms with twins is just what you said. Being able to Birth A...then B sudeenly has lots of room and flips, and then you need a c-section as well, so your body is recovering from two traumas.

however, there have been lots of people that have done this successfully, so its a decision for you to make with your doc. Is your pelvis the optimal shape?(doc takes measurements for this), and if babies both head down...go for V birth.

I personally am going to have a C with my twins. I have the option of a VBAC, but i feel like I need as controlled enviroment as possible, since first birth went HAYWIRE...

i'm afraid of both types of birth! LOL my OB said if baby A is head down then he wants to try for V birth...i trust his judgement so i'll go for it if he says to but i'm scared! As for c-section the only part i'm scared about is what happens after....will i be able to take care of my babies if i'm in a lot of pain during recovery? how long will my recovery be?

My baby A was head down and baby B was transverse. My OB said the only way I could go vaginal is if they were both head down so I had a c section, I really wanted a vag birth but like you trusted what he said as whatever was safest for the babies.

The c section was no walk in the park, but I got through it as so many other people do. Don't worry, you'll be fine!Chat Icon

I had a c section and honestly it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. I still did everything for my babies even the same night as I had them. The recovery is all dependent on how you handle it once you are able to move walk around and take the pain meds when you can't bear it anymore.

Baby A is head down! csection v vaginal

Hey I just had this discussion today w/my peri. Chat Icon

31 weeks- Baby A is head down, Baby B(adass) is transverse. UGH. If B was head down or breach, yes we'd go for it.
If she is transverse, no way. :(

Re: Baby A is head down! csection v vaginal

A has always been vertex. B has changed between transverse and vertex a few times. She is finally vertex again since there is no room for her anymore between my ribs.

My dr said with clotting issues and twins I'm better off with cs either way. I'm kinda scared of what you said about having both labor and a cs. My dr said b will have so much room in there once a is out and could flip and I'd need a cs anyway. Knowing B she will. My friend had a singleton and labored for a long time and then ended up with a cs and wished she had just done the cs from the beginning. I want to have rhe experience of having a v birth, but I've also hear horror stories of b being in distress and I can't let what I want come before my babies being in distress. Heck I feel bad when I sneeze like I hurt them or something. Lol

Mine were in an "L". A is head down on my left and Bs feet with hers and B was across my upper belly on my right.

Baby A is head down! csection v vaginal

Baby A was head down, way in the back, with a posterior placenta. Baby B is up sooooo high under my ribs with an anterior placenta.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Today, Baby A was transverse again. Good news is they're showing growth and the estimated weight was 4.1 and 4lbs. *I know they're usually off but they're showing good growth so yay!

Re: Baby A is head down! csection v vaginal

I had two transverse babies and was bummed out that I couldn't deliver vaginally and was hoping up until I went into labor that baby A would swing around. My doctor was willing to deliver vaginally if baby B was breech, but A had to get in the right position. No such luck so I ended up with a c-section.

That being said, if I ever had another kid(s), I would absolutely choose a vbac. I found the c-section to be a weird experience while it was occuring and while it wasn't that painful, I had a crappy recovery and would have preferred to have tried for a vaginal birth.
