Dressing same gender twins the same?

I'm pregnant with fraternal twins and I just buy 2 of everything. I figured I'd dress them the same til they are older and can decide for themselves. I know people who occasionally dress their kids the same when they are a few years apart and it's cute (IMO).

This was brought on by some big mouth voicing their dumb opinion with "well you aren't going to always dress them the same, right??" (all judgmental) Chat Icon to which I replied yes. Yes I am.

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

Who cares what others think (easier said than done). Everyone seems to have an opinion about just about anything. Do what you want. I didn't mind dressing the girls the same. I would for holidays or if someone gave them the same outfits. I didn't really buyt the same exact outfit. I would buy the same style, but in the same color. I figured if I had another I wouldn't need two of the same kind. So, for everday wear I didn't buy the same. For holidays and birthdays they dressed the same and if someone bought me the same outfit they usually wore it on the same day.

I find it easier to dress then alike or coordinating. Then you only have to pick out 1 outfit.

I'm sure they will be dressed differently by the timeone spits up on herself, the other poops herself, etc. But i feel like it's part of the fun of twins. Especially while they are little.

Dressing same gender twins the same?

I fight with the 2 grandmas-to-be on this one allllllll the time. They don't need to match every single outfit. I prefer coordinating, anyway! They're twins, not circus freaks. I am so thrilled my sister in law bought 2 bloomer outfit thingies for their newborn pictures in pink and lavender. She's helping me win my case! Chat Icon

Dressing same gender twins the same?

I dress my girls the same a lot. Most days they are in the same exact outfit but other days one will have the same thing but in a different color. Today one has brown pants, one had beige pants but the same shirt but one in pink and one in purple. I think it looks cute and people always compliment how cute it is. I have had some comments like wow do you have to dress them alike all the time and I say yes.

I usually choose to dress them same or in the same outfit in different colors or different outfits in the same line of clothes. I find that being sleep deprived it makes it easier on me to pick out their outfits, and also to zero in on them when we are out somewhere like the playground. Also I think it is super cute and reinforces they are twins and not different age siblings. That doesn't stop people from asking me if they are twins every single time we are out though.

As they grow older I know they will not want to dress a like so I figure I only get a couple of years to dress them in what I like :O)

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

Yeah I figure once they are older I proably won't dress them alike. I'm sure they will be giving me a hard time about clothes down the road. Lol.

My sister and are 3 yrs apart, don't look alike but both have red hair and people thought we were twins ALL the time. And we never dressed alike ever. People are just weird.

I dress my boys the same all the time. I think it's adorable when they are babies. Not sure if I will continue as they get older but we,ll see. They are only 4 months old.

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

I have fraternal boys who are 13 months old now.

When I was pregnant I thought I would dress them in coordinating outfits.

When it came time to actually buying clothes, it is HARD to find the same outfit in different colors for boys.

They make a lot of coordinating for girls, but it's been hard for me to find that for my boys.

Honestly about 95% of the time they are in the same outfit.

As someone said its also easier when you're exhausted and have barely enough brain power left to decide pants/shorts, etc Chat Icon

I love it, I think it's one of those things that is adorable for fraternal twins. Maybe if they were identical I would want to stress the differences between them more. My boys don't really look similar at all - different color hair and head shape and built differently too.

Dressing same gender twins the same?

I have twin boys that will be ONE in 2 weeks. I had planned on dressing them alike & do often but its kind of slowed down a bit because my guys are 7lbs apart which means I need 2 different sizes in almost everything. I then keep the bigger one for my litttle guy so he gets some hammy downs. Chat Icon Although it's nice to dress together/same & shop...you have to be prepared if they don't stay the same size. Even though twins, they are JUST brothers/sisters & will grow differently. I will always dress the same for holidays though until they tell me otherwise.

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

You do what you want. Everyone seems to have an opinion on this. for holidays they usually are in the same outfit. when i fall in love with a dress i can't buy it for just one and then find another to match it. kwim?
usually when we go out i have them in the same bottoms and different tops. or coordinating outfits. as for pajamas. i but 2 of all but don't necessarily match them when i put them on. kwim? when they go to school and pick their own clothes they can wear whatever they want. but for holidays i will let them pick as long as they coordinate. my boys are 8 and 9 and they still let me pick their holiday clothes. bribery usually works well. and i just make sure i get something they are comfy in!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

I have identical twin girls who are 18 months old. I do my very best to only buy coordinating outfits. Sometimes it will be the same outfit just in 2 colors. Other times it will be different shirts with the same pants/leggings/skirt/etc.

That's not to say that when people buy for them the same outfit I wouldn't put them in it. I do. I just have realized it is easier for other people to tell them apart if they are dressed differently. Juliana's signature color is pink and Katelyn's is purple. This way people know to just look for the color they are wearing to figure out who is who.

(btw - to me they don't look identical, but anytime I have them dressed in the same outfit I hear "Oh it's so hard to figure out who is who").

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

More often than not, I dress my fraternal twins the same. Now that they are 2, I do buy some coordinating outfits and they choose which one is theirs. I loved dressing them the same.....even matching pj's.....but I know everyone is different.

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

I very very rarely dress them so that my boy and girl are coordinated and even then is two different striped shirts from two different places. I think it is super cute, but it just never struck me to do so(and would require extra planning for me!)

I have lots of clothes from my son so I will not always dress my boys the same but I love when twins are dressed the same so everything new that my family is buying is matching.

Let me answer this question again... When we are at home, they wear what ever is grabbed first. Usually something comfy. When they were little we went through so many outfits a day that it was impossible to match or coordinate. and there certainly was not time to change the other one if only one baby needed changing.

when someone comes over or we go out... then they match or coordinate.

Re: Dressing same gender twins the same?

My boys are identical but I am not a fan of dressing them identical, I was more into coordinating outfits but to each their own. Mine were also always a different size so Buying two of something didn't make sense since one wore the clothes two months later. That is the first of many stupid ass comments you will hear since apparently having kids means everyone and everybody is entitled to an opinion on them. Best thing is to learn how to ignore arseholes. Lol.

Good luck!
