Cat owners... Do you pay attention to dry food ingredients?
I was feeding my clan Purina Cat Chow Indoor Formula for yearrrrrsss... and then I recently found out about cat food having lots of fillers and not made of real meat. Well, I noticed the food we were giving them was made up purely of corn meal. Today I switched them over to food that has chicken as the main ingredient with the assumption that it's better for them. They seem to love it already! Has anyone noticed this or does anyone make a conscious effort to give food that has more "natural" ingredients?

I also fed my girls Purina Indoor - for 8+ years...They ate it fine...but one of my girls had a vomiting issue... A friend suggested it may be a gluten or corn allergy - so I switched them to Blue Buffalo (Its what I feed my dogs too) and they love it! And it's cut down on Sophia's issue big time.

Cat owners... Do you pay attention to dry food ingredients?
I feed my cat Halo food for sensitive stomachs. He loves it. No chicken meal or other rendered meats (meats not ment for human consumption) no corn, wheat or wheat gluten. It has all natural ingredients, fatty acids and antioxidents.
Here's the ingredients list for the one I feed my boy...
Turkey, Eggs, Pea Protein, Oats, Pearled Barley, Vegetable Broth, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), Whole Peas, Turkey Liver, Salmon, Flax Seed, Salmon Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Pea Fiber, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Blueberries, Green Beans, Carrots, Cranberries, Zucchini, Alfalfa, Inulin, Calcium Sulfate, Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Salt, Vitamins (Folic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Choline Bitartrate, Niacin, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Ascorbic Acid, Riboflavin Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Biotin), Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Iron Proteinate, Cobalt Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus plantarum.

I definitely pay attention. We had one cat, Mikey pass away from lymphoma in his stomach and Bubba died from colon cancer...about 4 years ago. We fed them what we thought was quality food--but we didn't know any better. Their food still had corn gluten, by products, and "meal" in it. While they were sick, I did a ton of research regarding nutrition in cat foods. We now feed our "new" kitties Wellness. I even avoid treats with "meal" or "by-products" in the ingredients. There are definitely some extremes out there==some ppl feed an exclusively raw diet to their kitties. I couldn't keep up with that.
Then there's the whole wet-dry debate. I have had vets tell me dry is better, and I've heard wet is better- so I split the difference and feed both!
Glad you made the change! I hope you're doing it gradually, b/c it could be upsetting to their systems.

I did that for my dog
First I went from some very ppular brand I cant remember (8 years ago!) and than switched him to Nutro which supposedly doesnt have by products. My vet recently recommended to go grain free and he seems to be doing well on it (although ridiculously lazy)

I adopted Bella from my friend and switched her food from Friskies to Wellness and Purina One Beyond, which I am going to wean her off of (has some ingredients from China)
Bella used to pull her fur off her tail and legs, the vet said she had allergies.
I have her for two years now and never had an issue with "allergies". Her fur is glossy, she does not shed as much anymore, and she is lean. Even my friend noticed a change.
Bella likes her Wellness chicken, loves the Purina salmon flavor. I am going to give Blue a try.
I truly believe that quality food ingredients make for a healthier pet.

I only look pay attention for my one cat, Scout...because she has a protein allergy and she's sensitive to chicken, turkey, and some fish....
Right now, she's eating wet and dry food that's made with Duck and Potatoes.
The other two cats could eat anything and they don't care.

You're right. I'm embarrassed -- I really thought Wellness didn't have "meal" and I don't know why I missed that. I just checked out Halo and I think I might be switching. It's even cheaper than wellness to boot.

Some of the vitamins are sourced from China, especially the synthetic Vitamin K.
It also contains chicken meal (I won't gross you out with what goes into the meal) and animal fat that has been found to have traces of pentobarbital, one of the drugs used to euthanize animals.
I don't feed her the One Beyond exclusively because it makes her stool very soft and very smelly.
Wellness also has meal as one of its ingredients, which I am embarrased not to have known. Bella does better without corn and wheat in her diet, so I try to be concious about that.
Argghh, Blue also has meal in it.

Crazy right? My cat LOVES duck! 
The vet suggested trying some different proteins...we tried duck, lamb, and veal....and she liked the duck the best, so we stuck with it. We use the Blue catfood which has no preservatives or fillers or anything. SUPER expensive....but she's not throwing up multiple times a day, so it's worth it.

Don't be!! Sometimes things are just looked over by accident. 
Imo, Halo is great. My boy eats it like crazy. I feed dry food all the time with a treat of wet every so often. His bowl is always down and it takes him about a month to go through the 6lb bag. Check the website for coupons too.

Just to be safe, I always stick to science diet canned food and science diet natures best chicken and brown rice. My cat loves it but I do give him purina treats, but only as a treat.

Beware because Science diet has chicken meal in it too. And brown rice is an unnecessary filler especially for indoor cats.

Wow thank you so much everyone.
We actually had an issue tonight where Penny peed with blood in it  We are taking her to the vet tomorrow and I'll be asking him about the food. I'm just hoping this is nothing serious because she seems fine otherwise.

I had looked into Wellness and came across a lot of cat owners who had major problems with urinary tract blockages.
I use Halo, both wet and dry. I mix the dry with the Royal Canin SO that my male eats.
