Storm Day
What do you think? Will schools close for Sandy? Are you taking the day anyway? I'm watching closely as I commute.

I **may** go in depending on how bad because I am taking 3 days the next week. But DH crosses the Throgs Neck and no way is he going in.

If schools are open I am going in unless daycare is closed. Then I really don't have a choice. I travel from Centereach to Queens.

Bloomberg is the biggest fu$k on the face of this earth! He is downplaying this whole storm, he is so wrong! How can you act like its OK to open schools? I loath him!

The Weather Channel is saying they can't believe how much he is downplaying it. They said he didn't even factor in the waves.

The Weather Channel completely disagrees with Bloomburg! It's crazy- where is he getting his information? Why did he say it wouldn't even be a tropical storm or a hurricane? Who is misleading us? Bloomburg or The Weather channel?

My concern is that it won't be bad Monday morning, schools will be open and I will be stranded in Queens with DS in daycare on LI. So if schools are open and predictions are bad for Monday afternoon then I will stay home regardless of what Bloomberg decides. If daycare is closed then the decision is even easier for me. Although DH works in Manhattan and the LIRR could portentially be shut down so he may be home anyway. But I won't be putting myself in a position to be stranded away from DS. I can't really afford to take days but I don't see any other choice.

I didn't hear his announcement, but I did see MTA might shut down service. Did he say if schools would be open then?

This is what I was thinking ...see my comment on the rafts...or maybe I should get some blow up floaties? Again, if it's dangerous, I'm not endangering myself or anyone else...

My students have looooooooooooong walks to school. If there is school tomorrow I hope their parents don't send them because it will honestly be dangerous for them to walk. Actually some of them take the MTA so I don't even know how they would get to school. They are only 6th graders... way way way to dangerous for them.
