Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
Maybe just a few but I wouldn't go nuts. They grow so fast in the beginning so even if they do fit into them when they are born it wont last for long. The only reason why I stocked up on 7 or 8 preemie outfits was b/c my twins were born at 30 weeks so I knew they would be wearing them a lot longer.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
I was wondering the same thing. However, I figure if they are born that small, they may have few days in NICU, which would give me time to have grandma or someone run out and get a few things for them to wear.
With my first DS, I had NO newborn sized clothes because we all just assumed he would be big like all the other babies in the family who came out wearing 0-3 month clothes. However, he was born less than 8 lbs, and everything was swimming on him. He was in NICU for couple of weeks, and we just got him some clothes to come home in, and once home, I picked up a couple more things...they outgrow it SO FAST..I would not get too much if you do decide to get ahead of time.

I got their going home outfits in preemie but everything else, I figured they can grow into if they're that small.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
Take home outfit definitely premie. They might not wear premie for long after so if you get stuff dont get much. I delivered at just 36 weeks but they were still the size of 35 weekers. We had a "little me" brand newborn outfit that was soo huge on them. I heard the brand is cut large. I ended up sending dh out for a carters newborn outfit. Carters is cut small. The outfit i liked didnt come in premie or I'd get it. Dds went home at 5 lb 1 oz and 5 lb 7 oz and it was big on them, but not too big that it looked silly. Both girls are 6 lb and 6-6 now and newborn fits them fine. Slightly baggy but not bad. They will be in newborn for a few more weeks I think.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
I had mine at 37w3d. One was 7lb 1 oz and the other was 4lb 15oz. My last sono they were a little less than a lb apart but those are just estimates, so u never know.
I never had any preemie outfits. Their going home outfits were newborn and a little big on my little guy but not bad. I only had a few NB outfits. They outgrew them so fast. They lived in 0-3 for awhile.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
My twins were born at 37w2d and always measured average on sono's. Yet they were 6lbs and 4lbs12oz. Although I didn't have any preemie clothes they were in newborn clothes until they were well over 4 months. And for a while the NB clothes were swimming on them. Do you need preemie sized? Probably not. But it wouldn't hurt to have a few on hand just in case.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
I needed preemie-girls were born at 35 weeks but they grew out of it so fast. Carters nb runs small so they've been in that for a long time and it doesn't look too big on them. I wouldnt get a lot if you get any, and leave the tags on and return what you dont use. Same goes for diapers, we only used preemie for 2 weeks. we used nb and folded over the top.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
Don;t go crazy, even when mine were in the NICU one of the nurses said don't waste your money on too many preemie clothes because they will grow out of them fast! I bought a few things and just kept re washing them. Now they use those preemie clothes for their dolls, perfect fit!

do i need any preemie clothes?
You never know. I like to be prepared for things so I did buy preemie clothes 2 packs of onsies and 4 outfits. I did use them. My girls were in the NICU for 5 days and 7 days. They were born at 5.7 and 4.8 lbs. The NICU at Winthrop lets you bring in clothes for them to wear (depending on why they are there). So they did use their own blankets, wear their own onsies and PJs. I found it comforting to be able to do things for them like dress them in our own clothes and wash their tiny laundry :O) I used preemie clothes for their going home outfits. You can easily get preemie clothes on sale at BRU or use the coupons if you shop early.
Except for their going home outfits, which I can't part with for sentimental reasons, I sold all the preemie clothes I bought on ebay and they sold for more than I paid for them.
If you are nesting or you are a planner you can buy a few things, but keep the tags on. Someone might have to pre-wash whatever you want for your going home outfit if you end up in the hospital early. But if you don't need them you can always return the new ones or sell them on ebay.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
NB clothes are usually too big even for full-term babies. I would get a couple outfits just in case, but dont go crazy. If you need more, you can always ask someone to go out and get u some. I had NO preemie clothes and my were born at 35 weeks. They were just under 5lbs. My sister went out and got me preemie clothes for them. They needed them for about a month.
ETA: my twins were in the NICU for 1 week. at winthrop the nurses asked me to get them some preemie onesies so they would be more comfortable. i dont think they have any there.

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
I'm not buying any premie...my take home outfits are newborn. If I think they can really use premie I will have my mom run out. My boys were almost 5.5 pounds each last week so I'm hoping to go a little longer and newborn fits them!!!

Re: do i need any preemie clothes?
Mine were born at 35w4d and were 5lb 13oz 5lb 9oz. They spent 6 days in the NICU and I never had any preemie clothes. The newborn was a little big on them especially in the very beginning but it worked out fine. They wore newborn for at least the first 6 weeks or so.
