Need help looking for Orthopedic for my mom
My mom had surgery almost a year ago on her shoulder. In fact the Dr. had to perform the same surgery twice since she was still in pain and said he didnt take enough out. Well after her healing she was still in an incredible amount of pain. And now is left with an inch indent where your bra would rest. She looks disfigured and still in pain. Next month it will be one year since she had it done. Anyway my mom of course still has issues with that shoulder and now is having problems with her elbow. Not sure if its tendinitis or what yet. She made an appointment with a new Dr. and after reviewing her files from the last Dr. he said he would not take on her case. I feel horrible for her and she called me up crying because she doesnt know what to do. I told her to just pay for the medical records from the other dr. so she can see what is in there. Does anyone know of a very good orthopedic thhat would take on her case so she can see what is wrong inside? I hate seeing her in this much pain! We are located in Suffolk.

Re: Need help looking for Orthopedic for my mom
I am so sorry your mother had to experience this all and is still in pain.
I don't have a dr in Suffolk County. But, I want to mention is that she may have a hard time finding another dr to pick up on the surgery now. My brother in law had a surgery done on his stomach and NOT one dr will pick up on what the dr left off of. It's a political BS nonsense.
Does your mom have a trusted DR that she can ask for an orthopedic referral? I wouldnt limit it to PCP, most other drs should know of one.

I know thats what she is scared of, that this guy did something wrong and now no one will see her. What the heck is someone supposed to do if a Dr. messes you up? Are you supposed to go back to the same idiot? Yes her primary care dr. is really great maybe he can refer her to one.

Wow - your story about your Mom sounds just like what my MIL went through. She ended up having 3 surgeries on her shoulder in a year, 2 different doctors & is still not healed properly.
She had the chance before the last surgery to see a surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery , but didn't want to travel into the city. Despite all of us telling her it was the BEST option at that point.
I know it's a heck of a commute from Suffolk, but IMHO that's where I'd go first.
Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear what your mom is going through!
Check out Orlin & Cohen. They have offices all over (1 in Suffolk). My mom goes to the RVC location and loves the doctors.

HSS is definitely the place to go. they deal with alot of people who had problems in prior surgeries. i know i had 2 back surgeries at LIJ, and wasn't happy with the ultimate outcome. so much happier with my last 2 that were done at HSS. they're really top notch there.
