If you have diabetes...
Please help me. DH has diabetes, has had it for about 10yrs now. Hes horrible at controling it. He just went to the Dr. and now he put him on insulin and some kidney med. because his kidney is letting out a lot of good proteins or something along those lines. I am worried for him and he always says hes going to get his act together but never does. We have an 8mth old son and Im afraid if he keeps up this path his future wont be too good.
So, enough babbling...I need help with recipes. What kind of foods are good? Any good recipes? magazines I can look into? I have no idea where to start but need to change his eating habits. I cant control what he does outside but I can try to help him while he is home. Please help.

Would he be willing to meet with a nutritionist?
You can go with him and see if they can give you both ideas.
I also think some of the hospitals have programs like once a month or so for diabetics where they talk about this kind of thing.

See, hes not your typical man. He doesnt like good food like chicken, pork chops, steak etc. he eats junk like bagels, cereal and hot pockets. It drives me nuts. But I'll take whatever you've got

I am type 1 - and I take very little insulin b/c of how I eat
he needs to cut the processed carbs
fruit- like apples, grapefruit, veggies- lots of greens, nuts- all good
brown rice or quiona if I need a carb fix
I eat whole real food- nothing that comes wrapped in plastic and has more then 1 ingrendent
I don't eat dairy - it's not good for my blood sugar, no pasta, I don't eat meat but that has nothing to do with being diabetic
I think he should go speak to a nutritionist
