Cpse question
Hi everyone
Quick question- our little guy will be evaluated for cpse for physical therapy. I know he will have to get a psych eval as part of the process.
When he got evaluated for EI he got a bilingual for the cognitive part
When cpse evaluates him, will that be a bilingual eval too?

Re: Cpse question
We're not bilingual but I have had to fill out a home language survey for each of my DS evals so I would venture to guess this is something they need to take into consideration when doing any kind of assessment with your child.
I also think it may even be law but don't quote me.
(We have similar guidelines at work, but I provide services to adults, not children).
Your best bet is to just call up the agency that is doing the testing.

Re: Cpse question
If you are a bilingual family, CPSE needs to provide a bilingual evaluation. I am a preschool psychologist (not bilingual), and I do CPSE evaluations all the time. I cannot do them for a child from a bilingual family. Even if your child only speaks one language, if two languages are spoken in the home, a bilingual eval should be done.
