When do you think it would be better
To pull DS out of school for vacation? I'm not asking for opinions of whether we should or not. We definitely are. We can either pull him the second week of June, and he will still have a week left of school to finish up and say his goodbyes. Or we can pull him out of the last week of school. He will miss the end of year parties, but less actually school since the last two days are half days anyway. The price is the same other way.

Will he have any common core exams he needs to take? Can you do sometime in May? I would think May would be better than June.

I agree. I would be most worried about the new assessments... they determine placement and instruction for next year. Can you ask the teacher when the major assessment exams are scheduled?

I can't do May. I teach dance and my recital is June 7, so I can't go until then. I will ask his teacher and see if there's any difference as far as testing goes. Unfortunately she is horrendous at getting back to me.

I don;t think any tests are given that close to the end of school. I think it really depends on how important "closure" would be for him. There's not too too much going on at the very end of school except end of the year activities, etc., so academically I wouldn't be TOO worried

Assessments are in April. I think I would do the beginning of June so he can do all the fun end of the year activities. If there are local assessments in June- he will still have time to make them up. :)

Unfotunately (bc he will miss the fun stuff) the last week of school. DS brought in board games and such the last week of school last year.

The last week of school is fun. So I would say the other week...June is sort of a review month anyway. Have fun!

I say the 2nd week. I think the festivities that go with the end of the year are something I wouldn't want my DC to miss.
