Please help ease my mind that things WILL get better.... UPDATED With Question.
What a week, last Saturday I went to Dr. (not my own) b/c I felt soo panicky, lightheaded and my hands were shaking and everything. The Dr. said she wanted to test for hyperglycemia and thyroid - makes sense for the symptoms I had. I went 2 days later to get blood work, she said I had a Viral Infection and wants me to go get thyroid sonogram just to rule that out also (T levels in blood were OK) so another day goes by and I do that - mind you I still feel all these symptoms and took 1 week off from work. The sonogram comes back ok for Thyroid but they found a lump in my throat - go for CatScan - did that - everything ok. I thought I had Cancer, it made all my symptoms worse with all the worrying that I could not get off the couch, I couldn't even let the dog outside. So now everything with me is OK - except an infection - why am I feeling all this anxiety - I almost cried at work today - just to get sent home. How do I deal with this. I feel so overwhelmed, Dr. gave me med. that kicks in in like 3 weeks - Anti Anxiety Pill Pls. help.
* updated* Went to Dr. again, she doubled by prescription - anyone on Lexapro for anxiety issues ? ? ? ?

Re: Please help ease my mind that things WILL get better
I must of been an error or swollen gland on the sonogram - they are too detailed so when they did the catscan - nothing came up, I was already on antibiotics so it may of been an infection, but still have these nervous symptoms, even scared to drive on the LIE

Don't drive yourself nuts. My mom just had surgery last week because the dr. found a lump in her throat. The lump was right in the thyroid area and she's home recovering. I would see another dr. for the anxiety thing for a second opinion. I hope everything turns out well and I'll keep you in my prayers.

Re: Please help ease my mind that things WILL get better
I don't have to get anything removed, the catscan came back good, that is why I should feel relieved of these panics.

everything will be ok. The panic will start to leave you as the reality sets in that everything is ok. Don't push yourself too hard.

Re: Please help ease my mind that things WILL get better
First off, many to you!!! You had a really big scare and it was very traumatic to you. Now it seems as if you are struggling with a lot of anxiety. Give it a little time and you'll start to feel better. In the mean time, try to keep your mind occupied with positive thoughts and try focussing on positive "tasks". When I am anxious or stressed, I try and keep myself busy doing something (s) for myself. If you continue to feel this anxiety prolonged, it may be a good idea to talk to someone. Best of luck!!

Re: Please help ease my mind that things WILL get better
One of my best friends experienced a very similar situation last year. She had a series of anxiety-provoking, but benign medical conditions that resulted in her experiencing panic attacks.
She had an infection and in order to rule out meningitis, they performed a spinal tap. After the spinal tap, she experienced leakage of her cerebrospinal fluid, which resulted in another emergency room visit because of the horrible headaches that resulted. During that time, she was also diagnosed with a benign heart irregularity but her anxiety exacerbated the condition.
Her doctor placed her on Paxil and gave her Xanax to deal with acute panic attacks. The Paxil did take a few weeks to become effective and during that time, she had several panic attacks. I remember talking with her throughout that time, and she described the feeling as almost like suffocating. It was very overwhelming for her.
Have you asked your doctor if she can prescribe any medications for acute panic attacks while your body adjusts to the anti-anxiety medication? That may help.
In the meantime, I know from living through this with my friend, that it can be very difficult and scary so here are lots of for you.
Good luck!

Re: Please help ease my mind that things WILL get better
Thank you all for your helpfulness. Each time I feel panic I read all this, it is helping. Last night I was ok and then this AM - I had to talk myself it not calling in sick. I am going to talk to the Dr. tomorrow, I need something that works on the spot. I am afraid of Xanxa, I hear that it is addicting, but she has to try something.

I took Lexapro a while back. It helped alittle...but a huge side effect is that it greatly reduces your sex drive (sorry if TMI)...like to non-existent. I switched.
