Peanut allergy and Levittown schools
My son will be going to kindergarten in the fall and, although I plan to ask at his orientation, I was just curious from any btdt moms what they do in the district in terms of keeping kids with peanut/food allergies safe. What kind of policies, if any, do they have in place? I already have the form that his allergist has to fill out and the one authorizing them to use his epi-pen/benadryl if necessary, but I just want to try to be as prepared as possible. Thanks!

Check here for some ideas on setting up a meeting with the school. http://www.protectallergickids.org/about.html Try to get a meeting before the end of the current school year and see if you can find out the name of your son's K teacher early so you can start talking to her about your son's allergy.

My dd is in K now.
She can bring in whatever she wants for lunch or snack. They ask for class parties to make everything peanut free. I think she has one kid in her class with an allergy.

Re: Peanut allergy and Levittown schools
My son is in k in a levittown elementary school and has peanut allergies. They asked me if I wanted him to sit at a different table at lunch time or if sat with his class he would have to sit at the end of The table.
The teacher always checks labels and I have to send in a separate snack just in case the label says its made in a factory that the product could have been exposed to peanuts.

Re: Peanut allergy and Levittown schools
My son is in K in Levittown. There are quite a few kindergarten classes and he is in one with no allergies. So he can bring whatever he wants for lunch/snack. The children with allergies are grouped into 3 classes I believe.
