Question about Pregnancy after MC
If you get pregnant after a mc, does the doctor usually handle it differently? and if so, how?
I was pregnant and they didn't want to see me until 8 weeks - then I had some spotting and my progesterone was low and I was put on that.. then things seemed fine and they didn't want to see me again... I thought it was kind of strange? I guess MCs are just things that are natural so they have to let them happen if they're going to happen?
Anyway my question is - is it different after a MC. I had a D and C and I don't think any tests were done to explain my mc... it was my first one.

I have had three miscarriages and each time they saw me the same time - about 7 weeks...they didn't treat me any differently.

After my first m/c a good friend of mine suggested I ask my gyno to monitor me more closely when I got pregnant a second time. The office told me they don't see pregnant women until 8 weeks- they couldn't even check my levels to make sure everything was rising. Well, I ended up miscarrying again. Now I am with an RE and I know once I get pregnant again I will be monitored which makes me feel SO much better.
I guess it's standard practice at the GYNO office to only see you around 7-8 weeks?

Every doctor is different. You should call and ask your ob/gyn now how they would handle your next pregnancy.
I started going to a RE after my first miscarriage. At the RE they will monitor you every week from the time you get your BFP until you can be released to a regular ob/gyn (around 8-10 weeks). Also, if it was found that your progesterone is typically too low during all of your cycles, they could have you on progesterone earlier (2-3 days after ovulation.) Just something to think about.

I guess it goes case by case. For me, I've had multiple losses and we've discovered several underlying issues. I am seeing a high risk perinatologist every two weeks (sono at every appt to check cervix and baby) and then my OB every four weeks.

 I just replied to your other post...
I had a dnc and had testing done for my first with inconclusive results. When I got pregnant after that, they originally told me that they would treat it like any other pregnancy and they wouldn't see me until the normal 8 weeks.
I started spotting early on too and they did let me go in for an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't an ectopic. Once that was ruled out, I was told that I would be treated like any other pg and I didn't need anything different.
My doc told me they don't do any special monitoring unless you've had multiple mc's.

I had one mc and my pregnancy wasn't treated any differently. I guess every doctor is different, but I also think it depends on your history.

My doctor took my hormone levels as soon as I got my 2nd and 3rd BFPs. Other than that my 3rd pregnancy was normal and I was treated the same as any other pregnant patient.

From my understanding they usually only treat it differently if you have multiple losses. But its really case by case. I expressed to my doctor and the staff how concerned I was and they let me have a sono at 6 weeks- which is earlier than they would normally do one, but they understood how worried and stressed out I was about it. Plus I was switching doctors due to a change of insurance so they said they would sneak in a sono for me before I left. Then the new doc gave me another sono at 9 weeks anyway.

I had 3 chemicals (all before 6 wks) so I never needed a D&C. When I got pregnant for my 4th time, they still didn't want to see me until 8wks. My pregnancy was very healthy and normal and the OB treated me no different than those who never had a m/c
