Hibachi for birthday has anyone ever been to one?UPDATE
Looking to have my girls birthday party at a hibachi place. My sisters bridal shower is costing me a fortune and I heard these places are not too pricey!
Has anyone ever been to a party at a hibachi? Did you enjoy it? Where was it? Thank you!

What area? There is one called Tai Show in Setauket that I have heard good things about. I think they have multiple locations..

I just went to one for the first time for my nephews communion. Had a great time- so much fun. It was in Staten Island though.

Kumo in stony brook and hotoke in Smithtown are two I have attended parties at. Both were excellent.

Yes I have and they are so much fun! There is one near bbb in westbury Benihana. They are fun and different.

I love Hibachi, and have been to several in Nassau. I love Shiro, on Old Country Road, near the Source, and Show Hibachi, on Wantagh Ave in Wantagh.
ETA: I just celebrated my birthday with my family at Shiro, and have gone for several friends' b-days as well, but haven't thrown an actual party at any of them.

benihana is always have not been there in years.
inatome in valley stream is really good.
shogun in island park is good too, but i am not sure how it is after hurricane sandy. i am too devastated to go down there.

We go to Sumou in Bay Shore for Hibachi. We used to do Gasho, but that place skeeves me now.

I wouldn't recommend Benihana. Too much of a chain, I've had terrible service there (they basically forced us out of our table while we were waiting for change from the check because they wanted the table available for a new party), and their food isn't as good as a non-chain Hibachi place.
I love Miyako in Hicksville, Showa Hibachi in Wantagh, and have heard excellent things about Kumo in Stonybrook.

We went to one for my daughter's 3rd birthday- Sumou in Bayshore (She picked it). There were 7 adults and 4 children (but we only ordered 2 childrens meals- 2 of the kids were only 1).
DH and I picked up the tab. It was over $400. This included 4 alcoholic drinks and 2 appetizers.
Kinda pricey if you ask me- but this wasn't a party with a set menu- everyone ordered what they wanted.

I had my daughters 12th birthday party at Hoshi Hibachi in Patchogue just this past Sunday. It was great! Very clean, beautiful place, fantastic service and food. It was super reasonable price wise. For 16 kids and 2 adults the total cost including tip was 350.

Their sushi is better than Kotobuki IMO, which is no small feat.

had our rehearsal dinner at tai show in massapequa. it was awesome! price was great, and since it was during the week they let us rent out the whole restaurant for no $ extra!
