Best Yet?

Does anyone shop here?

I drive by it all the time but go to S&S out of habit because it's so close to my house.

I was just comparing circulars online and it looks like a significant price difference, especially for things like cold cuts.

Best Yet?

I actually just switched over to Best Yet from S&S.

It is a significant savings if you shop the perimeter of the store (produce, cold cuts, meat, dairy). Some things in the aisles can be pricey, but the deals on produce are insane.

I agree. I only go for produce, cold cuts, some meats & sale items.

Best Yet?

They have great deals on meats. I wish there was one closer to me.

Best Yet?

I normally go to S&S, but I tried Best Yet once. I hated it. The aisles were really small. The selection was very small. The price on produce was good but the produce ended up going bad quickly. My grapes had mold on them 2 days later.

Yeah, we noticed that too. The prices on produce were great, but the quailty was iffy on some items. The sale item quality was much lower than regular price produce. It feels like they look at what is going to be bad and that is what is on sale the next week.

I agree- I've only gone there once. Do they carry Organic? I don't remember.

Re: Best Yet?

I shop their sales. If you are buying off sale the stuff is as expensive and sometimes more than other stores. They have bone in rib eye this week for 4.99/lb.. that's GREAT... but if you buy their boneless, skinless chicken it's upwards of 3.40/lb off sale.

I find you also have to be careful with their produce... it's often super cheap but sometimes it's on it's way out and has to be used very fast.

They do not have a great selection of general grocery items or freezer items.

I usually do a combination of Shoprite, Meat Farms and Best Yet. I do go to S&S once in a while because it's the closest store to me.. but they are priced FAR beyond what i find elsewhere.

The store (Oakdale) is small and set up oddly. The aisles are tiny - especially at the check out - but the cashiers are friendly and I find that most of the other shoppers are nice and understanding during the inevitable traffic jam in the aisles..

I have noticed this about the Oakdale store also. The Patchogue store has a much better set up. Much wider aisles, though still not tons of space by checkout.

This exactly!

I've had a few problems with produce lately (a sour cucmber and a bad abg of potatoes) but overall, I prefer to shop there.

ETA: The store in West Babylon is pretty spacious. The one by me in West Islip is TEENY TINY but we shop there alot out of convenience (I live right down the road)
