I'm thinking of incorporating fish back into my diet - thoughts?
I struggle identity wise with this more than anything else!!!
I was vegan for over 15 years (no animal products at ALL - not even honey!!!), and then when I started running more, I just felt I wasn't getting enough nutrients so I incorporated eggs (cage free, organic, free range - mostly local eggs when I can), and some dairy. I have been this was for about 3 years.
I ate fish in March when I was in St. Maarten because I had nothing to eat but salads for almost a week and needed some protein. I really felt so good after it. I haven't stopped thinking about it.
I feel now that I'm almost 40, extremely active, and still wanting to improve my overall fitness level, I need a little more for my body. I do not want to eat chicken or beef at all - I hate it, but I always liked fish!
So, if I incorporated fish, which are good ones to start incorporating into my diet?
I know it's a stupid question, but I never cooked fish before, so is it easy to make?
I was thinking if I start eating fish, I would take a closer look at the Paleo diet. Weight loss is not an issue for me. I do not lose weight easily at all, and now with my age the last 5 lbs are still hanging on for dear life. I gained some weight this year due to stress and not running, but now my job is done and I signed up for races to get myself back on track. So I won't lie.... I would be fine losing a few!

I personally really love (and find easy to cook) tilapia, sole, grouper, and salmon.
Salmon I like to do a maple, pecan, mustard crust (using breadcrumbs) and bake. But there are a million great recipes.
Tilapia and sole are great Mediterranean style with a chunky red tomato sauce with capers and white wine. Also just with white wine and lemon or breaded with lemon juice and capers. Grouper and tilapia can also be done Cajun style and grilled.
I try to incorporate fish in my diet twice a week.

I was vegan and had to add fish back in just to make my life easier
I don't want to eat dairy and many of the vegetarian options at events I go to have cheese
I would rather not eat dairy, meat and chicken- so I added back in fish
I wont cook it- it wont come in my house- but if I am out or at an event- I will order fish

We steam our fish, I usually make salmon, tilapia, cod, and mahi mahi
I use salt and pepper , or a bit of soy sauce and scallions and steam away

I was the exact same way but started feeling like I was missing something so I added eggs back in. Now I eat fish also. I pretty much stick to salmon. But I will eat shrimp in a salad, or wrap. I usually just bake it or grill it with a little of this fish seasoning I found. It's called essence, I think I have to double check, but that's all I need on it! I feel better than ever since going back to fish even though I feel bad about it sometimes. I was complete vegan for five years and felt like it started to take a toll on me. The only other thing I eat is Greek yogurt because of the protein, and I enjoy it lol
