One on one aide
How do you know if your child needs a one on one aide to accompany him at school? What sorts of things would a SD require to approve a 1:1 aide?

One on one aide
There are a host of reasons why a SD would grant a 1:1 aide. It can either be an educational one, the child needs ongoing intense help with all academic areas or it could be for safety reasons. They could be runners, anger issues, tantrums, need constant redirection. There could also be aides for specific areas within school. DD just has an aide for lunch and recess do to safety issues.

Re: One on one aide
I was told DS needed a one on one because he was a runner, climbed and ran across tables and radiators, would fling things around constant redirection short attention span. This was when he first started in ei and now he's great on his own

Re: One on one aide
My ds has a 1:1 aide for self help skills such as eating, drinking, potty training, and with fine motor skills such as coloring and activities that require him to focus and redirection. My ds is still dependent on me to dress him, feed him ect so the aid helps with these things.
