Need breakfast suggestions

I commute to te city and bring my own food. I've been lazy and just been taking a bagel everyday. My cholesterol is high though from diet and genetics so trying to cut out bagels, dr said bagels are a big no-no. Suggestions?

Re: Need breakfast suggestions

I don't eat eggs, so for breakfast, I will often eat those to-go packets of nuts (you can even buy them at Starbucks----I try to get the natural one and not the one with all the sugary coatings), a yogurt (usually Greek) and a piece of fruit.

I also bring my breakfast to work.

They frequently have bagels in our staff kitchen and those are the worst.

I used to stop and have a bagel each day before work and feel like this is a major reason I gained so much weight. I think a bagel = like 5 pieces of bread.

Need breakfast suggestions

i didn't know that bagels affected cholesterol.

back when i used to have breakfast at work i would have a container of quaker oats at my desk. i would also have ground cinnamon and the other fixin's (almonds, craisins, and chia seeds). i'd just add hot water from the tea/coffee machine.

it was an awesome breakfast, even in the summer because the AC was so strong in the office.

On sundays I"ll make a mix of egg whites (and one or 2 whole eggs) a bunch of veggies (peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, spinach, onion-- Whatever i'm using in other meals for the week), and some Feta cheese and pour them into ramekins and bake. I'll cover them with wrap and put them in the fridge, they're fine all week. I'll typically take them out, pour some salsa and microwave, but when I'm feeling fancy, I'll put them on a healthy english muffin so I can eat in the car.

I also make cold oatmeal breakfasts, I'll mix oatmeal with some almond milk and greek yogurt and let it sit overnight in the fridge. I'll mix in some raspberries and jelly, or sometimes some peanut butter and banannas... there are lots of diff flavor combos you can do. Today instead of reguilar oatmeal I had Bobs Red Mills Muesilli with almond milk, greek yogurt and Chia Seed, and didn't add any additional flavoring, I had a bananna on the side and it was great.

Lately, I've been enjoying 1/4 cup of quick cooking oats stirred (raw) into a 6 oz nonfat greek yogurt and topped with fruit. I love vanilla Greek yogurt with the oats stirred in (which makes it seem more hearty and satisfying) and topped with fresh berries. You could also stir in nuts, coconut, etc. to mix it up a bit.

Oats are good for lowering cholesterol!

homemade chia pudding and an apple. The pudding is SO good and so easy:

1/3 cup of chia seeds
2 cups almond milk (unsweetened)
cinammon to taste
2 tbls honey

Mix everything together and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Then mix again and put in fridge. It should be ready to eat in an hour or so but if you wait til overnight it will be even better!!!
