survived cancer and now this

Long story short...we thought we were losing my fil this past year. First he had a very serious with his bladder that fortunately resolved itself. About a month after that he was diagnised with lung cancer. They were also sure it had spread to his bones so he underwent several tests (painful) to get a sample. Turned out thankfully it didn't spread. But we were left with the horrible dx of lung cancer. They decided to go in and try to remove the tumor. Not only were they succesful doing so, they discovered it was only a stage 1 and he would be ok! So after a long scary year, my fil was given a clean bill of health. We had a huge bday party for him a month ago to celebrate his life and bc last year his bday (his 70th) was so depressing with everything going on.
Well yesterday my mil calls me crying saying he had a stroke (he had confusion with slight drooping to his face) but than he got better but now it seems to be coming and going. So she's waiting to get an immediate appt with a neurologist. I can't believe this. I am so sad bc after everything he got a clean bill of health! My fil is not a typical 70 yo....he works full time, he's very active and is an amazing dad/grandpa. This just sux. :(

So sorry. If he shows any more signs of a stroke, I would not wait for an apptmt but would call the ambulance or go straight to the ER. A stroke, even if just a TIA (transient Ischemic Attack) is not something to wait on.

This is my fear. Last night we were all together and he had another episide. This was the first one me and dh saw. Sooo scary. It lasted about 1-2 minutes only but he remained slightly confused after. As of now the appt is on Wednesday. My dh was adament he stays home, doesn't go to work or drive until than.

Those are mini strokes... Get him to a hospital ASAP.. They usually come before a BIG stroke... I know, my husband has had 6 full blown strokes and about 10-12 mini strokes.. The mini ones sometimes happen before he has a big stroke.. But sometimes they just happen... His speech is usually the first to go... I always make him go to the hospital...
