Anyone else terrified of being pregnant again?

I try every month and am so hopeful and optimistic about getting pregnant. Then I remember my miscarriages and all of the pain associated with losing the babies. I am so scared. I know my eggs are not the greatest and my chances of miscarriage are high but I still have hope that just this one time, it will stick.
I am not a negative person but I can't help but feel sad and scared the next time I see that line on a test. Any hope out there?

I feel the same way. I guess I don't so much feel scared as I do feel skeptical. I won't even test anymore until I'm at least 1 week late.

Anyone else terrified of being pregnant again?

I actually just found out I'm pregnant again and I don't think I'll let myself even being truly excited and not skeptical until I'm into the 2nd trimester. Loss just really changed the way I think about pregnancy.. I feel like it won't be real to me for a long time

I know, I'm so jealous of those girls who get that first BFP and start planning everything. I won't feel comfortable until i'm holding that baby in my arms!

I agree. Between my loss in June and all of the reading I did online after my loss, I feel like I lost my innocence. I knew mc happen, but when it happens to you it's really really tough. And they are so common too.

With my first pregnancy I was insanely nervous until my first sono when we saw a heartbeat. Then I was able to relax and enjoy my pregnancy. Now that I have had a mc I feel like I will never be able to relax, at least not until I am well into second trimester. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I hear you! With my DS, I was not even trying so I was surprised but not afraid of losing anything, kwim? I enjoyed every second of that pregnancy. I am so sad that my next will not be that sweet Chat Icon

I think we just need to stay positive and find joy in other things in our lives and tread lightly (anyone watch Breaking Bad!?).. yes our experiences took away the fun and innocence of pregnancy... but at least I'm sure we all have other good things in our lives, and 1 day we were all be holding babies in our arms.. our road is just not as easy as others.. but other people struggle with different things in life...

I think the support on this forum is great and we all keep each other strong.

I feel like I totally understand that feeling that we won't have that initial excitement - but I think when I know I have a healthy pregnancy and it's safe to share my news that the excitement then will make up for it.. especially since the few that I'm really close to and know what's happened are anxiously awaiting that positive time

After two MC's, I think I'll be anxious until I'm actually holding that baby in my arms.

It doesn't get any easier especially when the appointments are 4 weeks apart. I am dying right now all I want I do is see my baby and make sure everything is ok

I don't think it's something we can ever get past

This is great. It's true. With loss comes sadness and I have fallen into some deep sadness a lot lately. But I have been trying very hard to stay positive and look forward. Yes, I have trouble conceiving. Yes, I had an ectopic pregnancy, and yes, time is not on my side, but there is nothing I can do about any of that. Looking back won't change it. Dwelling on what happened or what should have been isn't going to magically get me my baby. So I cry, I yell and smash BFN pregnancy tests with a hammer (yea, I did that this time around) and then I stand up and move forward. And be glad I have so many other things in my life. Not everyone has everything they want. And the same may be true for me.

Totally agree. And once we do have healthy pregnancies and have good sono appointments our tears that were once sadness will be those of joy. And THAT is what I'm focusing on.

Anyone else terrified of being pregnant again?

Oh absolutely! I posted on the Infertility board about refocusing on losing all my excess weight - already 3.5 pounds down in 1 week - only another 16.5 by 11/07 (my 30th birthday).

I'm terrified too... After 3 miscarriages ( 10, 15, and 8 weeks) I wonder if my dream will ever become a reality...

I am really really nervous. I really hope that we get pregnant quickly because I want it SO bad and I am hopeful that I will have a different outcome but it's still scary.

I just found out too and I am so nervous. I was so blissfully ignorant with my first two pregnancies and then I had a horrible MC that tainted me forever. It is a weird place to be in that nobody in my life can fully relate to so it makes me feel alone in a way (like I felt when I had my MC). Chat Icon I just want to fast forward a few months and feel more secure.

Re: Anyone else terrified of being pregnant again?

My first pregnancy ended in the 17th week so right off the bat, I had my innocence of just about the first half of the pregnancy robbed from me. After that loss, I was never able to be like "ohh ... after a doubling beta I'll feel good!" .. or "ohh... after a heartbeat I'll be set!" .. or - "ohh... after the first trimester I'll be so relieved". In my pregnancy that brought me by DS, I never got that moment of relief till after the 34th week when I knew he he could technically come at any time and not have any longterm consequences from a premature birth. Even then, I ended up at L&D because I wasn't sure if I felt enough movement that day (turns out I was dehydrated). I was worried up till the very end.

By the time I got pregnant with my DS, I felt so beaten to the core. Even my pregnancy with him was not drama free. We lost his twin early on and I also had issues with preterm labor halfway through the 2nd trimester. My point being .. you WILL be terrified and that's ok! -- but being terrified won't impact the outcome. You could be carefree and the sky could fall, or you could walk around with your tail between your legs and be the one to leave the hospital in 9 months with a healthy baby. It's ok to be terrified, it's just a side effect of what you've been through Chat Icon but you just never know what happiness is in store for you right around the corner. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyone else terrified of being pregnant again?

Just had my 3rd loss in a year. 2 mc's both at 9 weeks and a chemical in May. I had a d&c on Wed and besides being emotional about that, I am terrified of being preg again. I am new to this board but I just want to thank everyone for being so supportive :).

Re: Anyone else terrified of being pregnant again?

You'll never stop worrying. I had 2 losses and a successful 3rd pregnancy and I was a mess the entire pregnancy. Other people must have thought I was nuts with all the worrying I was doing I remember crying in the doctor's office before I even met the doctor because I was terrified and just waiting for him to come in and examine me was making my brain think all sorts of things. The fear of future pregnancies after a miscarriage is justified and no one can tell you otherwise unless they walked a mile in your shoes. If it's any consolation I remember talking to other girls on this board and the infertility board and every single one of them has a healthy baby now. It's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but it's there Chat Icon

I have had 2 losses in 3 months and I am terrified. I was terrified after my first loss. But, we are not ready to give up just yet so I will do my best when the time comes to stay hopeful
