Growing your hair long - please help!

I have been trying to grow my hair longer forever with no success. I use Pantene pro-lengths shampoo and conditioner. I use Moroccan oil in my hair after the shower and usually the pro-lengths diet detanangler (ends only for both). I take Biotin and I sleep with a deep conditioner in my ends once or twice a week. Still, nothing seems to work. I do get small trims every few week also. Is there ANYTHING else that I can do or anything anyone recommends? TIA!

I think you are trimming your hair way too often. I have long hair and only trim it about every 6 months. Not sure what type of hair you have. I have oily hair and don't get split ends or anything like that so I can go a very long time without a trim.

Take prenatals! My hair and nails have been growing like weeds since I started them.

Oh ok you mentioned above that you got trims every few weeks so I thought that was way too often.

I agree with the pp trimming every few weeks is way too much- hair does not grow that fast.

Get a good scalp treatment. It's important to treat both the ends & scalp for hair growth.

don't cut your hair. I've had long hair my whole life until recently. I'm growing it out. I only trim my hair twice a year and by trim I mean about an inch or less. If you keep trimming it your hair won't get longer. Your roots don't know you trimmed your hair.

ITA. I typically only need a trim about every 6months or so. I can feel it at the ends when blowing it out, that I'm in need. So I'm a believer you trim, if your ends need it. Some people have hair that's long, but looks dry & straggly, then it needs a trim.

Re: Growing your hair long - please help!

It all really depends on your hair.
I can't grow my hair past a certain point if my life depended upon it - and this is why-
My hair is fine and fragile- it tends to get damaged very easily because of this.
So I have a ton of dead ends every 8 weeks - if I don't trim it that often.
So that is kind of counterproductive in and of itself- I have to trim it, so all the growth, gone.
Then if I don't trim it- not only does it look horrible, it will just start breaking off on it's own. The dead ends will just break off and trim themselves!

So my hair is just not meant to be long.
I have finally- after years and years of denial- come to accept that.
And I wear extensions when I want length. In this day and age that is so easy. Extensions are everywhere and so easy to do yourself.

I had an amazing male hairdresser back in the day and he once told me- Long for the sake of long will do nothing for you.
Yes, you can have long hair eventually- but you'll have 4 inches of dead dry ends, your hair will be flat and lifeless, etc.
I hated him. I didn't want to believe him.
I went to 5 other stylists looking for a different answer.
Guess what- he was right.

Same here. My hair is well past half way down my back and I only trim (barely trim) maybe every 3-6 months.

Try changing your products. I've heard that Pantene aren't the best products to be using.
