Is this a strange combination?
My sister and I are having a surprise 50th bday party for my mom this weekend. Originally we were going to do sandwich platters and a few of our family members were going to make salads. That is usually how we work family functions, everyone pitches in to make sides and they offered for this party as well. Since my sister and I both live out of town, the sandwich platters were just going to be too much for us to do so we decided to go with sheet pizzas instead. My aunt called my sis this weekend wanting to know if we still wanted them to do the sides. She said her and my other aunt don't want to do the potato & Macaroni salad because they would be gross with pizza and no one will eat them. They are just going to make other sides so it's no biggie but I don't see how that is a gross combo. I wouldn't have even thought twice about it.

Re: Is this a strange combination?
I like them, but as a rule, I don't think the two go over that big, no matter what is served.
I had a party a few weeks ago and had ordered two large subs that came with potato, macaroni and coleslaw and they were barely touched.
People ate the other sides I made (couscous salad, a pasta salad made with basil and tomatoes from my garden and another type of salad).

I don't think mac salad and potato salad go with pizza, personally. I'd rather have a green salad and a pasta salad, i think the flavors would blend better.

I agree. Potato and mac salad just don't go with pizza. I was thinking the same -a green salad and pasta salad would be perfect

Yeah...they just don't really compliment each other at all. Green salad, pasta salad, brocolli rabe with garlic, garlic bread, cheese and olive platter...those go more with pizza.

Re: Is this a strange combination?
I would have zero interest in eating Mac and potato salad with pizza. Terrible combination........they don't go well together and would likely go untouched IMO.

I have to agree with everyone. Do pizza with a big salad and some veggie sides.
