Do you send your kids to summer camp? Last year I did, and felt very rushed and scheduled the whole summer. Thinking of keeping them home this summer, but not sure

Eta: kids will be 4 and 5 yo next summer

I'm off all summer. My kids do 1 week of hockey camp and 1 week of multi sport camp. They also play in a summer roller hockey league that's 1 evening a week for 6 weeks. Other than that we have a very free and easy schedule and we like it. That way we can do anything or nothing, depending on our mood.

I am a teacher off for the summer, I have 3 yr old dds, this summer I sent them to camp 2 days a week for 4 hrs each day to help with separation anxiety before school started in September, honestly I would continue to send them to camp in the summer, probably not every day but 2-3 days a week, i think its good for them and for me to all keep our sanity all summer long

My kids went to half day camp. Plus my ds had a tutor and he was in basketball. My dd was in dance. It was a really busy summer but they had fun.

DS1 was 5.5yo last summer it was really the first year I entertained doing camp. We did 3 weeks of half days and 1 week of full day. Next year might do 2 weeks full days or split up days over the whole summer so its not full weeks.

But I dont like being rushed and so scheduled over the summer if we can avoid it!

No, but now that my kids are older they benefit from some eucational and sports camps so I do send them for a week here and there. Mostly we love the lazy days of summer at out cabana.

My older DS has been going to day camp since he was 3. He did a morning program when he was younger and started town camp since kindergarten. We will be doing the same with younger DS. My kids like to constantly be on the go. I would never be able to keep up if they were home every day. I do pull the, from camp here or there to do day trips. But there's also like 3-4 weeks after camp until school starts, so we do a lot of bowling, zoo, amusement park, vacation, etc... during that time.

Yes, Both my go full time to camp 8 wks from 8:30-4:30

They love it would not have it any other way..

This year we are looking at sleepaway camps. For my son..

Last summer my 5 year old went to day camp for 4 weeks. My 3 year old was at her school 3x a week I had to keep her in to hold her spot for september. I missed my 5 year old and actually had a lot of fun with her when camp wasnt in session. We are not doing camp next summer. I may regret it but we'll see how it goes.
