Birthday Party Help
So my son is the oldest in his class, his birthday is in January. I haven't booked anything, but I know for sure he wants to invite his two friends from his UPK class.
My question, since they are 4-5year old, do you invite the whole class? I cannot do just the boys as one of his friends is a little girl.
His class is 16 kids and I kinda don't want to pay for all 16 (god forbid) especially since I'd be having another 10 from outside of school.
What is the general rule with something like this? We haven't gotten any invites on our end yet so unsure.
Doing the party at Krazy Kids in Medford
Thanks!

Re: Birthday Party Help
I am not a fan of the "invite everyone" rule, but then again, I would never purposefully exclude anyone either.
I would send the invites outside of school (not in backpacks) so you can invite specifically who you want.

Re: Birthday Party Help
Get the addresses from the class list and just invite the kids he's friendly with. I have never invited the whole class.

Re: Birthday Party Help
It's either all or nothing with my son's class. He has 19 kids. He will have a party at school for them.

Re: Birthday Party Help
the school will give me the addresses of the kids??
Funny thing, while chatting to my son, he added another 3 classmates...HAHA
Jamie, is the all-or-nothing the school policy?
I will be taking cupcakes to school on his birthday, but he is only in school for 2.5hours a day so its not a big thing

Kerry, In my sons class it is. Either all or nothing or all boys or all girls.

Birthday Party Help
Most schools will not let you hand out the invites at school unless you nvite whole class, or invite all girls, or invite all boys. You should ask the policy. If your class doesn't have a friendship/class list that is sent home with the addresses, unfortunately you are on your own in finding out where to send them. Maybe if you see the other parents at drop off/pick up, you can give them the invite.

Re: Birthday Party Help
The "all-or-nothing" policy can only apply IN school, meaning if your school has that policy, you can't use the school/teacher to hand out invites. They can't legally say who you can or can't invite to a party outside of the school.
I would try and get a list of contact info from the teacher, but if you can't do that, you're going to have to do some legwork. Have DS try and ask for phone numbers or emails. Give him a stack of contact info papers (business cards) to give to his friends and ask them to have their parents contact you.

Birthday Party Help
At my son's 4 year old party, he selected a few friends from class (both boys and girls that were his "best friends") to invite. This year, we're inviting the whole class (about 17 kids) since he's been invited to about 5 parties already since the start of school...

Birthday Party Help
We just had DDs 6th birthday and I only invited her two closest friends from school. It gets too $$$ and crazy inviting all the kids.
