Winterizing Sprinkler System?

I know that sprinkler systems should be "blown out" before the temperatures really start to drop. For those with a sprinkler system, do you do this yourself? If you use a company, can you recommend someone and tell me the approximate cost for this?

Thanks!

Winterizing Sprinkler System?

DH does it. He uses a compressor to blow them out. That's the extent of my knowledge on the subject lol.

Re: Winterizing Sprinkler System?

I pay 50 for mine. Just did it this week. I know my father does it himself but we don't have a compressor

Winterizing Sprinkler System?

We do ours. All you need is an air compressor.

I use RPM sprinklers. I think $65 for open, and $65 for close.

IMHO neither my husband nor I are sprinkler experts. Could we do it ourselves? Yes. However for $65 for them to do, do it correctly and let us know of any issues because they know what they are doing? To me its worth it.

Plus, when they open in the spring there is ALWAYS a broken head or something they take care of.

yup, that's my thinking too
We had automatic sprinklers install ours, and i know they're expensive, but they fix everything for us each springtime, no cost.

Most gardeners will do it for you, too.
