Switching nursery school
My son is in a 3 year old program at a nursery school in another town from where we live. As much as I like the school, no one in his class is from our town. I am not sure if I should put him in a 4yo program in our town, or keep him where he is.
I did not grow up in my town, do not know anyone with a child his age, and do not know if it is better to meet kids his age to make the transition to kindergarten/a bigger school easier. Any advice?
TIA!!

Re: Switching nursery school
Do what you feel is best. I dont think its crazy important though to switch if she is happy.
DS and all his "baby" friends all went to different 3yo or pre k programs. DS went to 3 different schools in 3 years (for nursery, K, and first) and he adjusted fine each time. OUr public school is big and really most ot he kids seemed to have gone to different nursery schools than each other.
I really wanted DS to go to a nursery school that he would meet kids he would go to school with like DH and I both did, but it just didnt work out that way, and he was fine! i would pick a school based on what you think DD will gain from it and how comfortable you feel leaving her there more than where the kids are from.

Re: Switching nursery school
Go with your gut.
My younger son went to 2 years of preschool in the town where I work, and was the only child in his class from "out of town." He's in third grade now and made lots of friends in kindergarten and beyond, so it worked out fine for us. He didn't mind not knowing anyone going into k and it was never an issue. He's also very shy and unsure of himself typically, so a better adjusted child would probably do fine as well.
