Nursery School

When did your child start nursery school? If we want her to start next September we have to get her on the list now. She'll be 2.5, I feel like that might be too young. Of course the school says that it's the "optimal age to start".

Thanks!

Re: Nursery School

my oldest (JOhn Anthony) was a month shy of turning 3 last year when he started.
Nicholas is 2 1/2 and just started last month.
Its different because his brother was in that school all of last year, he came with me to pick him up twice a week, got to know the teachers, the school, the setup, the kids, everything.
so hes totally excited to be going himself this year.
He still does cry a couple of minutes when daddy drops them off in the mornings, but big brother is across the hall if he needs him. They havent called me to get him yet, so it only lasts a few minutes.
Theyre smiling ear to ear telling about their day in the evenings.

THere are very different opinions on this Chat Icon
I think its very healthy for them to be around other children, listening to other figures of authority, learning about rules, sharing, etc. My kids are very friendly, get along with everyone, dont cling to my legs in social settings. They know I will be back and they enjoy their play/learning time away from mommy and daddy. Chat Icon

Ive seen the opposite extreme and Im glad Im getting them used to this at this age.

Re: Nursery School

We're planning for 3 years old. I don't know if I would be comfortable before then but I guess I need to a bit open minded and see how her development is and what she needs. Here there are only a few places that will take you at 2.5 and un potty trained. The rest are adimant about being potty trained.
