Why are they being so difficult?
Sorry for venting!
6 IUIs down at North Shore LIJ and time to move onto IVF...
So I made 2 consults, 1 at NSLIJ with the doctor we have been seeing for the last year, and one with LI IVF. I was open with NSLIJ and explained that since we are oop, I was doing a consult at LI IVF also, bc they offer Micro IVF at a significantly lower cost, and many people have recommended them to me. I'd like to see if that is an option for us and we need to be able to weigh our options.
I filled out paperwork over 2 weeks ago, to have NSLIJ send copies of our histories and records to LI IVF and when I followed up last week, the told me that they were behind and I would have to wait at least 3 more weeks! Well my consult is Wednesday and I would like to have everything I need!
I went to the center today and asked if they could print out just a copy of my husbands SA, my HSG report, and day 3 blood work. It would take approx. 35 seconds to click print! So at least I could bring something to the LI IVF consult.... The receptionist said no bc she had to check the file and make sure I filled out the proper disclosure forms which will take too much time! Why would I need a disclosure to get a print out of my own blood tests?!?!
Is it just me being high strung or are they making things difficult?

I'm also a patient at NS and I've found that they DO NOT work well with any doctors that are not in their group. They had a HUGE problem with me seeing Dr. Kofinas for a consult and took FORVER to send my records to him. I then chose to go to their recommended MFM for a 2nd opinion and they sent the paper work over THAT DAY and spoke to the doctor directly for me!

I think anything more than 10 business days is absurd. If that is how the office is run, I would be annoyed!

My regular ob/gyn is part of the NS network, so her assistant called and asked for the info to be faxed and it was done right away. Now I'm going there tomorrow to pick up a copy. That is so frustrating. When I see the doctor, I will definitely say something to her about it.

Threaten to report them to the NYS DOH for violations against HIPAA - HIPAA requires physicians to provide records within 2 weeks of the origin written request.

I had issues with them when I was leaving since IVF was going to be so much more expensive even with insurance. They said 2w and I called several times and finally I went there to get a copy and they said I filled out my release form wrong and I said I did it exactly like the receptionist said and I was fuming at that point cause that would mean DH would have to come and re-sign. They finally let me have my paperwork after waiting for over an hr. I was not about to leave without it and I prob would have caused even more of a scene. In the end I think they just wanted me to leave...

Thats terrible!!! Do you know what lab they send their specimens to? You can also call the lab to request they send results to your other RE, and you can call the facility you had the hsg at and ask them to fax it to the other RE also.
Another option would be to call the other RE and explain you have an appointment on Wed and your original RE is giving you an issue getting the records and ask if they can call. They can call and ask to have it faxed.
Or, you can call your Ob/Gyn and ask them to have everything faxed to them and then get the copies from the Ob/Gyn.

I know the lab for the SA is right there in the hospital where the NS LIJ Center is. I did my HSG there also, and I'd bet that the lab for the blood work is done there.
So they have all of my info. I'm picking up the info my ob/gyn was able to get faxed over today.... And it should be okay for my consult tomorrow.... But I am not happy. When I do go back to NS for my next appointment I will tell my doctor (who is wonderful and really down to earth) what trouble the front desk has been giving me and I won't leave until I get print outs of everything. In the meantime, I'm pretty pissed off. Sounds like this is what they do there though judging from all of your responses!

Yea, I would call NSLIJ hospital and ask for medical records. Ask them to face everything to the other RE. I've done that with Stony Brook with the SA and HSG.

Ahhhhhh! After going to my ob/gyn at lunch, they never did receive the fax after all!
I stood there yesterday watching as the secretary at North Shore literally googled my ob/gyn to make sure I was giving a real doctors name, called the office to verify, and walked away saying she was going to fax the paperwork to my doctor right then, but could not give it to me because she didn't have time to make sure I filled out the proper disclosures,
And yet she didn't do it!!!!
I called NSLIJ and asked for medical records, was told they can't come to the phone because they are too busy, explained the situation, and was told sorry, but they are behind.
So I told the receptionist to leave a message for medical records that I would be at the office at 3pm and would not be leaving without my records. If they want me out of there quickly, I suggest that they have them ready by 3pm.
This is ridiculous!!
***As I was typing this, my doctors assistant called me and said she was going to get the doctors permission to fax that info over and would do it herself and call me back as soon a a she had confirmation. We will see.....

Took quite a long time switching records from nslij to LI Ivf. They are ridiculous and I couldn't get anyone on phone. I showed up and refused to leave. They left things out btw.
I called lab from there and had them fax SA over.
I couldn't wait to run away from that office.

That's exactly how I ended up switching to them. I thought I was happy until I started at LI Ivf. It's a whole nother world.
