How to get that "Kick Start"?
I want and need to lose weight. I know what I should eat and what I shouldn't eat.
I know I need to exercise. We have an elliptical machine in our basement, that I've used once.
I am finding it hard to get the Kick Start to just do it. To eat better. To exercise. To make me feel better and not feel tired all the time.
Any suggestions? I'm sure some will say, "Just Do It", but I keep finding excuses to get started. I know once I start it will be easier . . .
I used to say "Oh I'll start now to lose weight by so-and-so's wedding" Doesn't happen.
I'm so beat by the end of the day, that doesn't help. I am up and out of the house (for work) by 6:45am and my oldest DC is in by around 9pm - which is when I finish cleaning up, prepare stuff for the next day and do other "chores".
Any advise??

How to get that
I joined WW last week after feeling the same as you, I also started hitting up the gym more. I find WW gives me real results and it is a lifestyle not a "diet" which makes it more manageable--good luck!

Re: How to get that "Kick Start"?
I know what you mean. I have been in and out of this group with the same question.
Finally it clicked. I joined WW online and I made sure i tracked everything. Even if I ate 5 swedish fish, they were tracked. I made ww my homepage so as soon as i log on to the internet it is in my face.
I exercise every day. just 30 minutes. I do a walking at home tape. Lesley Sansone and I have about 5 of her videos so it change it up every day. In the summer I was walking a lot. sometimes up to 6 miles a day. but now I am down to 2 miles a day.
I am down 27 pounds. I started in April and have been maintaining since about october.
you just really need to commit to it. It might take a few tries but you can do it!!!

Re: How to get that "Kick Start"?
I am in the exact same boat here.
I wish I could find a gym buddy too who would be willing to meet me early.
I am intimidated by using a lot of the machines and stuff alone so I find that if I go there, I get stuck doing something boring like the treadmill and then do not want to go at all.
I also am not going to exercise at home. I spent about $500 on a brand new treadmill that sat in the basement and then DH just ended up throwing out after Hurricane Sandy.
I have found that I love hot yoga but frequently do not go during the week because the only time I can commit to go is at night and I feel super guilty leaving DS after I've been away at work all day.

Re: How to get that "Kick Start"?
What time do you wake up? Can you get up a half hour earlier?
Or is there any way you can set aside a time when you first get home from work (maybe not daily, but 2-3x a week you have food and etc. either in a slow cooker or already prepared) and you can hop on the machine?
I will say, I think working out alone in a basement is next to impossible. I am a workout-aholic (I try to do a workout 6 days a week) but I can't work out in a basement alone, no motivation.
Do you get a lunch break?

How to get that
I feel the same way, I am disgusted with my body. I remember when I use to be cute...so depressing. It is hard to make yourself a priority working full time with young children.

Re: How to get that "Kick Start"?
I don't know the answer to getting a kick start but I will say that you just HAVE to find time to excercise 30 min a day for yourself and for a long healthy life for your kids sake. Something has to give to make the the time. I am a single FTWM and I live in a small apartment and don't have a gym membership. If and when I can I walk with coworkers at lunch. Whenever I get a chance I jog for 30 min. Otherwise I do videos in our tiny living room even when my kids are awake and around.
It's sometimes seems selfish (I could be cooking cleaning engaging with them) but they need to see me taking care of myself. Yes you have to sacrifice something else so you can excercise but it will be worth it. My kids have to be more independent and self sufficient and help more anyway. That frees up my time to excercise!
The other thing is stay active in general with the kids. Also take stairs, park far away to burn extra calories.
