Signed up for the gym...Need to kick start things.
Hello!
DH and I both just signed up for the gym, things are finally calming down at work and we just need to get back into the swing of things. A big motivator is also that we're going to Carribean in about a month and want to look and feel good.
From food perspective, we've already been following a fairly low carb diet for a few months and in general eat at home based on what I cook. So now it's a lot on the exercise.
What would you recommend in terms of amount of days per week. How much cardio vs. muscle work?

I think you should do some of the online calculators to see how many calories you should be ingesting per day. Track your food for a couple of days, nothing crazy, and see how the gym work affects that.
For instance - I am at the gym for an hour about 3x a week right now. I do classes that include both cardio and strength at the same time to maximize the results. But I also am really watching what I eat and if I keep my carbs at 150 or under per day and calories under 1800, I will lose fat as I'm gaining muscle.
