Ice Cream or Wine???
Help me decide?
Just got a call from one of my BFF's, she is expecting, is 3 months preggo, has never wanted kids, rarely gets AF, so we always thought she COULDN'T get preggo (especially since after 8 years of unprotected sex with her hubby this is the first time), she didn't ever want kids EVER, etc... in fact, she's so surprised, she JUST found out last week - she hadn't gotten her period but that's normal for her.
I'm super happy for them, she was terrified to tell me, but I'm really very happy for them, especially since you can hear in their voices that they are terrified and shocked beyond belief (they thought it would always just be the two of them).
BUT, of course I'm just in shock too - but so exasperated, this is the, oh just the millionth person I know now who never wanted kids who is pregnant (or has a child). I am beside myself. I was just watching Tosh.O w/ DH and started hysterical laughing and it literally turned into me crying - like that's a real thing, not tearing from laughing so hard, I was actually crying (and played it off as if I was still just laughing for DH's sake).
So, do I get Ice Cream? Or just drink a bottle of wine?

And of course, now I love this girl and they seriously are freaking out, they really have no clue what to do... I had to calm her down, lol... Plus she was so nervous to tell me...
On the upside, and this is for a us : seriously, I would never have thought she could have ever gotten pregnant, at least not on her own - she gets AF like 4 times a year (on the max end), and over the course of almost 10 years w/ her DH, not using protection, this is the first time they ever conceived. So, the silver lining of this : if THEY could get there, ANY OF US CAN GET THERE!!!!

Same exact situation for me. Friend never liked or wanted kids. Married for 12 years and then, BOOM, randomly pregnant. Now all she can talk about is how she is going to try immediately for #2. I don't get it-- she smokes hardcore, drinks hardcore, is in late 30's.. gets preg the first second she skips a BC pill. I am clean as a whistle, holistic, healthy and 32 and can't get preg to save my life!
I guess we all have our own set of cards to deal with. Try and focus on what you need to do. I can't believe how many random people who are not even trying have gotten pregnant lol My FB and instagram are flooded with them!

There's a new wine iced cream that i am dying to try. Alcoholic wine Who knew lol. The best of both worlds! Now if they could only mix the iced cream with wine, chocolate, and pretzels.....OH MY!!!!!

That's where I was torn last night - I wanted chocolate & ice cream & wine - I settled for 3/4 of a bottle of wine.....and boy am I paying for it now.

Yeah, I had a feeling this was coming though, she asked me last we for OB recommendations and said it was for a neighbor (I grew up across the street from where she lives now and my grandparents still live across the street, I knew there were no girls that would be needing that info).

HA both. Hearing her story makes me think well if could happen for them after 8 years it could happen to me. Those types of stories actually make me feel hopeful. I mean if they didn't want to have kids and were set on that then they would of used protection, right? Now I'm in the mood for wine...TGIF

That's my silver lining of hope for all of us with this story - I mean she was TOTALLY unmedicated / but she had just started an amazing new job, and was stress-free for the first time in years.

I LOVE red beans - the sweet Asian red beans - my MIL makes an incredible red bean soup and I make a paste for cookies & pastries - I'm thinking of mixing a nice ice wine with that next time and making it into an ice cream topping...
