If you have a train set that you put around the base of your Christmas Tree...Please come in!

Trying to figure out how to do this in the most attractive looking way! If you have, can you post pics of how you set it up? We have a lionel train set that we put under the tree - we have hard wood floors in the living room that I don't want to ruin. Last year I got this rectangular red felt thing that I put underneath the tree - I had to get two for it to fit the space and pushed them together and layed the train tracks on it but, it wasn't the most put together look. Looking for other ideas! TIA!!!

My husband sets up his old Lionel trains to run around the base of the tree. I have hardwood floors, too, and we just set up the tracks on the floor around the tree skirt. My floors never get scratched, we have done it this way for several years. However, although we have old trains, he has newer tracks (with a plastic base, not metal). Dh went to Trainland in Lynbrook and showed the trains to the staff there, who helped him find newer tracks that are compatible with the old trains.

We end up just doing ours in a circle around the tree skirt. I tried doing it rectangular, but it didn't look as nice. Unfortunately, we don't use all of our train cars because it looks like it's chasing it's tail if we did. Chat Icon
