I believe you usually find out the actual closing date only a few days before the closing/ If the seller wants to close in 2 weeks, you still have plenty of time to get the actual date

Yes, its totally stressful! I guess all the ncessary parties could try to set an actual date sooner - call your attorney to find out. Are you "cleared to close" by your bank? If not, you can't set a closing date yet. If you are, then maybe they can set it up now for the week of the 16th.

A closing date has zero to do with the seller. She can want to be out by Xmas but it is your mortgage that dictates EVERYTHING.
And yes you will only get the closing date a few days before....I got mine less than 24 hrs before.

i heard from my attorney and mortgage broker yesterday that we're setting a closing date for december 18th. mostly because the sellers want 2 weeks notice. the bank is ready now but i agreed to the 18th since im not in a rush.

We also want to close the week of 12/16, i feel like we are just waiting around and can't make final plans until we know the date. So hard, we have no control!! I'm hopeful we will hear something this week and have time to plan around the holidays! Hope the same for you!
