How do you know if something comes out good

I am a pretty picky eater, so when I entertain, I like to include things in the menu that I might not care for, but I know others generally do. So, if you are making something you don't personally like, how do you know if it came out right or tastes good?

DH usually tells me, and also that there is nothing left to pack up.

That is tough if you don't like it yourself. My mom cooks a lot of food she doesn't like & I don't know how she does it. It helps to have taste testers.

Also, if you are picky, but can tolerate whatever you are making, and have had it before, you can see if it tastes like whatever you remember from when someone else made it & people liked it or you had it a restaurant & people liked it, but I think that is harder to do.

Also, if it isn't just taste--there are things you can check for , like the doneness of meat-temp & how it feels when you press on it, if cookies are golden brown, but not burn, etc.

DH will tell me. He is very honest when it comes to good or bad food. If he didn't like something I made then he would let me know.
