We found a lawyer - UPDATE
I'm so excited - I found a lawyer that a friend recommded to us for Molly's case. We are going to try and sue - or at least go after both the East Meadow Animal Hospital and the doctor that messed her up.
I also spoke to the Office of Professional Discipline to write up charges against the both of them. We have to fill out the paperwork and then an investigator will be assigned to our case.
The new vet took lots of pics and documented every detail of what they found inside Molly when they had to open her up again.
PLease cross your fingers that this works out. I refust to sign the release that states the doctor will take no responsibilty for what she did - and I would LOVE to get my money back for the second surgery!
Update: I spoke to the lawyer and basically he said that the courts treat pets like luggage. He said that unfortunately we really don't have a case against the doctor or East Meadow Animal Hospital. I explained that I am worried that there will be complications down the road with her. He told me that there is a statute of limitations and we wouldn't be able to sue after 3 years anyway god forbid something happened.
We have now moved on to filing the complaints and also trying to talk to someone at Ask Asa. My cousin's friends works for them. So, I guess we'll just see what happens.

I hope this works out. ANd thank you for considering going after this Vet. May-be you can save someone else's pet form getting butchered. Molly is lucky to have you for a mommy

Find another lawyer....sounds like he can't be bothered handling a case like this. Always good to get a 2nd opinion anyway.

Honestly, he wasn't the only one that said that - my dad asked a few of his lawyer friends and they all said basically the same thing.
I just filled out a complain to the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Discipline. Have a call into Ask Asa. I'm not really thinking there is anything else I can do.

Hi Diana,
I know how you feel. I have a pet that is in the midst of a legal battle with the (and I use this term loosely) justice system. I wonder if you would be willing to consult with another attorney..her name is amy chaitoff. She is a new and upcoming attorney but she is very involved with animal issues. I believe she is an animal rights advocate. She has a network connection with alot of attorneys as well animal activists. If you are interested feel free to call her at 631-265-0155. could you let me know if you contact her and if things worked out for you? I dont know the background of poor molly's story, but how about small claims?

Also, try filing a complaint with the attorney general's office. We did this when we got Cooper from a pet store and basically rushed him thru a snow storm to the vets the next day. We were told to file a complaint with the AG's office against the pet store and when we did, we learned there were tons of other people doing the same. A vet is considered a business, so you never know. Good luck to you and Molly!

wow - thank you all. I'm going to give that woman a call right now to see what she says. Thanks for her #.
I will file a complaint with the AG also. I will file it wherever I can - I just don't want this to happen to anyone else.
ETA: Thank you for Amy's #. I just spoke to her for a while - she seems great. Now we have some other things to think about.
