Anyone do the crochet art of amigurumi?

I was in Michaels buying a crochet hook (for the Rainbow Loom that was supposed to be for DS but I am addicted to making little figurines) and I saw a bunch of books on this.

It is the Japanese art of crocheting the most adorable little toys/figurines.

I have never crocheted anything ever but I took to the Rainbow Loom like a pro and it has given me a taste for doing more things like it.

I just have no idea where to start... books? YouTube? What do I buy?

I don't want to get over my head because if I cant do it, I don't want to have spent a fortune on supplies.

Any advice? Thanks.

i've made a few amigurumi items.

besides the loom, do you know any crochet stitches?
if you can chain and do a single crochet, then you can do a BILLION amigurumis.

all you need is a crochet hook and acrylic yarn. very cheap!!

That is such great news!
I am slowly learning the basics.
I can chain, single crochet and the basic Tunisian stitch.

I am having such issues keeping my stitches the same size and how to comfortably hold and feed the yarn to myself and the hardest of all is following those confusing patterns!

Any tips?
