Selling non-name brand stuff

I was reading a blog last night of someone who sells stuff on a website where they send you packing materials so it's pretty simple to send the stuff in, and you make on average $50.00.

I went to the site and it's really only brand name stuff they are looking for.

Is there another site out there who deals with regular clothes?

I don't want to deal with Craigslist and I don't think I have the time to get involved with Ebay for small lots of clothes.

Time to purge and donate I guess? Chat Icon

ETA: It would also be great to find someplace that takes bags, shoes, coats stuff like that too. I have a lot of stuff that is in good condition but not "name brand".

Re: Selling non-name brand stuff

I sell lots of stuff on eBay - brand names and otherwise. What I usually do when one of my items isn't a "brand name" is I put it in a lot with a few other items that are. For example, I have this random shirt from Marshalls that I'm selling, so I put it in a lot with two LOFT shirts.

Here is one of my listings w/mixed items:

It doesnt take much time, esp if you get the flat rate packages from USPS. I just throw 3 shirts in a flat rate envelope and ship them.

Try ebay! So easy if you use the app for your phone. Takes seconds.
I'm so busy all the time and it's so simple. I then hit the post office on lunch to ship stuff. I sell no name stuff and still sold them successfully.

Definitely try eBay like a PP said I ship exclusively in flat rate envelopes so I print the label at home and just send it out at work with the normal mail

Downloading the app makes everything simple too

I was scared to start ebay, but it really couldn't be any easier. Money goes right into paypal and I transfer it right into my checking. SO easy. Makes me regret all of the clothes and bags I gave away to friends throughout the years!!

Re: Selling non-name brand stuff

Can I ask something though about eBay?
What has always stopped me from trying to sell there has been the fact that I worry about starting out.
Like don't people only want to buy from sellers with a ton of positive feedback?
So how does one start out on there- with no history?

Nell -

People will jump right in and buy. I had just started last month and it hasn't been a month yet and made over 100.

I ask for feedback and I have 18 perfect ratings so far

It's so easy. Like pp, wish I did this sooner

I still donate to charity but I'm saving for new appliance I need

There are limits though. I have to wait longer to sell more. I have to become more established. I can't wait for that day.

Try it. Give it a go. It's soooooo simple. Literally takes under 2 minutes to post an item if you use phone app.

I agree, it is super easy and people just buy. I started in July, selling name brands and no name and I have made a killing (over 2k).

When I first started I messaged the person who bought after every sale saying "Thanks for the sale, I am shipping your item out tomorrow please remember to leave feedback once you receive the item. I am a new seller and would really appreciate it" the Majority of people respond and say no problem.

Also people will buy anything! I put up a silky rode from Victoria Secret and it sold within 30 minutes of me listing it. (I was convinced it wouldnt sell) If you have something that you are unsure of list it and see you never know what people will buy.

Re: Selling non-name brand stuff

Have you ever been a buyer before? when I started I had a lot of positive feedback as a buyer, so I think ppl mostly didn't notice that my feedback wasn't as a seller.

I would try ebay. Its super easy especially from the app. I do everything on my phone! The only thing i do on comp is print my shipping labels.

And anything non name brand i do the same, i do lots. Ill do a few things together. Or put it as an outfit so people can see how its worn and sell theoutfit for 1 fee.
