Re: Interesting article on IF
It's not just related to age though. Plenty of people in their late 20s and early 30s have issues too..
"When women have miscarriages or infertility we feel like failures. I want people to realize how common these issues are. When you see the statistics, it becomes clear you are not alone," Selvaratnam said. "You look at celebs and think 'What's wrong with me?' when it seems to work out for all of these other people. But the truth is, for most people, it doesn't work out."
I wish more people in the spotlight would be more open about their infertility struggles, etc etc.

Agreed. Except often they will come out and the depiction of what infertility is like will be so skewed by the fact that they are multimillionaires. They have access to the best doctors, they likely don't have to sweat if insurance doesn't cover an IVF cycle, and they can be flown across the country to go to any doctor of their choice. I just keep thinking of Guiana Rancic. Oh yeah, go get a surrogate......... Not ONCE does she mention what a thing like that costs! I used the same agency as she did. I know. The same goes for adoption because I'm sure Sandra Bullock didn't need to wait years and go through numerous background checks! I think they need more documentaries (like the MTV True Life one) where they show real life experiences that don't always result in a happy ending.

There was one on MTV true life. I never saw it, but I saw on one of the chat forums they were looking for people to be on it. And they were looking for people in their 20s!

Re: Interesting article on IF
After reading all of the comments made after the article, it is very clear that there definitely needs to be more awareness. I shouldn't have read the comments, made me so angry I just had to put my two cents in.
I thought it was a good article, hope she is able to help to accomplish the changes she mentions.

Interesting article on IF
tho I completely agree with the article, as a PP said its not just the age. I started trying at 29 and only after 3.5 yrs of unexplained with slight mail factor did we get preg and that is thru 2nd round of IVF just a whole more conversation needs to be happening abt the big #'s of ppl having issues w/fertility at any age. But then again, its not like I went around and told everyone. Biggest majority of ppl still dont know this was thru treatments. being preg now makes me re-evaluate my silence and secrecy while going thru it... overall we need more articles like these

My former dr at RS of Ny worked in CA at a biff detailing clinic and said many of the rich women- celebrities got pregnant at a later age using donate eggs. But that's never mentioned.
