1st birthday menu opinions and ideas

We are having ds's at home march 15 th . Lucky to have you/st patricks day theme

I am trying to do something a little different rather than the typical Italian catering and since seated space at a table maybe limited trying to do more grab and eat stuff or pub foods.

What do you think? Any suggestions on what to add/remove

-hero
-hamburger sliders
-popcorn chicken
-pulled pork sliders ?
-tray of sweet potato fries
-mashed potato bar (with toppings)
-tray of penne alla vodka
-salad

I feel like I need something else but not sure what ?!?

I could do some type of corned beef but not sure how to serve it?

id add another vegetable or fruit besides the salad.
for corned beef you can do sandwiches on rye or you can do roll-ups with cheese.

If you do corned beef I would just serve with rye.
Maybe add coleslaw. It goes well with the hero and pulled pork.
I would consider a tray of mac and cheese instead of the penne a la vodka since it would go well with your other dishes.

Sounds like a great party!

Once you add the veggie platter, I think you're great!

I love the idea of a mashed potato bar.

If you do corned beef on rye, you can even get the cocktail rye bread and keep in the mini theme since you are doing sliders (pulled pork and burgers). Sandwiches are easier to eat, too, if they are small.

I've also seen appetizer type recipes for mini Rueben sandwiches. That could be a fun way to work in corned beef.

But if you do some variation of corned beef on rye, and you do both types of sliders, I would maybe re-think the hero. I've been to parties lately when the hero doesn't really seem to go when there are other options. And you will have a lot of sandwich options going on already.

Maybe you can replace the hero with some other type of popular finger food, like chicken fingers?

Or, as another idea - I went to a first birthday party where one of the items served was shepherd's pie and people really loved it! It would fit with your Irish theme, but it's not really easy to eat, I guess. But it sounds like you have some stuff that needs to be eaten with a fork, and it's not like that involves a lot of cutting.

But I really love your menu so far! Sounds like a great party.

I saw a recipe for crockpot Reuben dip that sounded delicious! Could be served with chunks of rye bread.

Thanks for all the opinions....
maybe I will skip the pulled pork and do the mini reuben sandwiches instead.
I am def going to do either popcorn ckn or ckn fingers.

I am not sure if I am going to get a waitress for this party so I am trying to make sure I don't have too much cooking/prep work during the party.
