stupid RE question

So DH and I are jumping feet first into this process. Already had a lot of the basic testing done last month from my regular OB/GYN (cd 3 tests, HSG, semen analysis, etc.).

Our insurance covers us 100% with both LI IVF and RSoNY.

I've done research on both, and can't seem to find the answer to this one simple question: Do the doctors rotate offices, or will I be assigned to a doctor depending on which office I choose to go to? Geographically, anything in the Melville to W Islip area works for me, but I can't seem to figure out if I wanted to see a specific doctor would we need to go to a specific office.

TIA

Re: stupid RE question

At RS of NY I was assigned to one RE who I saw for the first appointment and a few others, but during monoriting appointments I saw who ever was in the office because they do rotate offices. I think I saw a total of 5 REs including mine. At RS of NY unless there is something strange going on in your cycle or the RE needs to speak with you or you need to speak with theRE, you will mostly speak with the NP to get your instructions for your next appointment. I actually found the NP to be very knowledgable and she was the one who actually pushed for me to move to injectible meds (with the RE's approval).

I think if you go with RS of NY (Mineola office) you will want to see whoever is in that day because the wait to see one doctor in particular (Saketos) can take hours. She was my RE and I didn't physically sit in her office and speak with her for like 4 months. I didn't even meet with her when I graduated from the office because she was running late.

The other REs that I saw were all great and very knowledgable. Some more friendly than others, but very straight to the point.

I just re-read your post and see that you wouldn't be going to the Mineola office...I'm not sure if the West Islip RS of NY office is the same or different.

I have never been to LI IVF but I went to RSofNY and I LOVE the W. Islip office. The staff is so extremely friendly and they make it feel like a family. Dr. Halfen even gave me a big hug as I was leaving my last appt. They were also very accommodating to me and take the time with you when needed. You do need to go to stony brook for some tests, if you have appts on weekends and some other things and there is a huge difference between the 2 offices. Everything was good there but it's not a "family".

I loved Dr. Stelling too! The nurse Linda is a doll and the woman who does the blood is soooo nice!

I agree, I absolutely LOVE the WI office of RSofNY. It's usually 2 doctors you see there (Dr. Stelling and Dr. Halfen) but once in a while you may see someone else. Luckily, both doctors are on the same page and are very familiar with your cycle. The staff is wonderful, and I agree, Linda and Susanna (I think that's her name) are fantastic. You definitely have that family feel here

The people are lovely at the WI office but plan to wait a loooooong time for your appointment. The first appt is 7 but they give it to a bunch of women, so by the time I waited, went for blood, sono and a consult, I was there for close to an hour. I was constantly late for work.

Re: stupid RE question

I've been to both offices. When I was going to RSofNY I was a patient of Dr. Stelling but saw several other doctors. Dr. STelling never did any of my retrievals or transfers and the office hours start at 7 (I was in West Islip) and the waits could be long.

Now at LI IVF I am a patient of Dr. Kreiner. He did my retrieval and he was the only doctor I dealt with throughout the cycle. However, you don't see him for the monitoring, you see the nurse practitioners. I had no problem with this, he reviewed everything, made all the decisions and their office hours work better for me (they start at 6:30 am). I never have a huge wait time there. I have been very happy at LI IVF.

I LOVE Rs of NY and HATED LI IVF. LI IVF felt so impersonal, seeing different nurses and not getting the attention of the doctors. They didn't even sit down with you somewhere after sono and bloodwork. Always felt rushed out.

At RS of NY they will sit with you privately after every bloodwork and you can ask all your questions and review meds with a doctor. Far more attentive and partnered in your care.

My two cents :)

Loved Li Ivf. I went to lake success and got very very personalized attention from receptionist to nurse to np to dr calling me from his cell.

Everyone has their own opinions. Make consults and see where you feel the most comfortable

Hated RS of NY now that I'm at a new practice. Everyone has an opinion based on their experience so you just have to try and see how you like.

This. They screwed up royally on numerous things. Had to beg to see and doctor, calls went to
Nurses and you were lucky if you got a call back. Wouldn't recommend them.
