Breastfeeding
any other moms of twins breastfeed? i have to say it is sooooooooo hard! but i want to do it so badly i am sticking w/ it. I feed each one for 15 mins and then supplement w/ formula after to make sure they are getting enough to eat. milk came in last night and it is getting a LITTLE easier.
how did you handle it?

Re: Breastfeeding
We had several issues, one being my milk never came in, the second being one son was in the NICU fro a month as well as needed extra calories in his formula since he was so little. I would try adn breast feed when I could and then supplement with formula and then pump.
Finally I realized I was mkaing more and more excuses to just pump and I decided to just pump and supplement and that worked for us, but my milk never came in fully and my supply sucked so I was really supplementing with bm.
Congrats on getting them to latch and working it all out.
Have you been able to get them to latch at the same time? I have heard that this does wonders for your supply and really saves time. I was always so confused on the logistics of it.
Good Luck!!!!!!

Re: Breastfeeding
I am an Aunt of twins and my SIL breastfeed exclusively. I went down to MD right after the twins were born to help out - and it was tough for her, but doable.
The one thing that stood out was that right away my SIL had a system down. The other adult would change and hand her a baby. While that baby was being feed, we would change the other baby, so as soon as 1 was done eating, we could literally swap babies. It was definitely a little crazy (and comical) at times, but it all worked out!!
Hope that helped!

Re: Breastfeeding
I can't give you much advice on BF'ing, but when I was in NY in April I went to a LaLeche League meeting in Freeport and found it really helpful and supportive. There was a girl there who was BF'ing twins and she came along to get soe support. I would suggest that you call someone at LaLeche and they will come to help you out.
Also, when my little boy was newborn someone from LaLeche came round to my house to help and it was really helpful.
ETA.....Keep up the good work! BF'ing is so important and if you can do it, you will!

Re: Breastfeeding
I applaud you as well. I breastfed mine for a few weeks. It was exhausting!
